Jeremy Atkins (Director of Public Relations) and Scott Allie (Senior Managing Editor) were in attendance. During the course of the panel, they presented recent and upcoming titles. Special Guests included Brian Wood, Sanford Green, Tom Morello, Scott Hepburn and Jan Duursema.

  • Dark Horse has the license to collect and reprint the Avatar: The Last Airbender stories featured in Nickelodeon Magazine. They will also be creating a new story, written by Gene Luen Yang, which will bridge the end of the series and the upcoming Legend of Korra series. The title will be quarterly. Each issue will be 80 pages and in the digest format.
  • Dark Horse Presents #9 will contain a short story by Erik Powell called “Isolation” that, according to Jeremy Atkins, is “either a story about a robot that goes into space or learns how to masturbate”.
  • Fabio Moon will have a story in DHP #9, which is based on the cover of DHP #2.
  • Mike Mignola will have Hellboy stories in DHP #7-8. The story in DHP #7 will take place during a period of time when Hellboy was drunk in Mexico, while the one in DHP #8 will be a eulogy for Hellboy after Kate Corrigan finds out Hellboy is dead.
  • Sanford Green discussed his four-part story, Rotten Apples, currently running in DHP, and added that a four-part sequel is planned.
  • Three short stories featuring three main characters from The Massive will be featured in DHP #8-10. The monthly title will start in June 2012.
  • Brian Wood and Becky Cloonan will be taking over on Conan for a 25 issue run. To start, they’ll be adapting the”Queen of the Black Hearts” story. Wood said The Massive and Conan would have shorter, three-issue story arcs.
  • Tom Morello discussed the new series, Orchid. Morello said he wanted to capture the epic scope of Lord of the Rings and infuse it with class consciousness. It’s a story about the “Have Everythings and Have Nothings” and will feature a street prostitute who finds she has a larger purpose. Each issue will feature a soundtrack. Morello said his inspiration for scoring the graphic novel was Peter Gabriel’s Passion: Music for The Last Temptation of Christ and an art show he had visited in Los Angeles which had a musical score to it.
  • Rick Remender’s Fear Agent is wrapping up and Heath Huston goes out in a blaze of glory.
  • Buffy Season 9 will feature stories that are smaller and more personal.
  • House of Night‘s first issue will be out on November 9th. The story is based on the series of novels by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast and takes place around the time of the upcoming novel, Destined.
  • Guillermo Del Toro’s The Strain will be adapted and expanded upon by David Lapham and Mike Huddleston. Special attention was paid to Del Toro’s fascination with scary, horrifying monsters.
  • The Goon will continue bi-monthly and make fun of things Erik Powell hates, such as pretty vampires and super heroes.
  • The Guild: Zaboo will feature a cover by Evan Dorkin.
  • There will be a third Mass Effect series, which tells a story that will lead into the third game. Bigger announcements on the property will come soon.
  • Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi tells the story of the beginning of the Jedi order and will answer questions such as, “How did people get to Tython to learn to be Jedi?” and “What did they do for 10,000 years?”
  • Star Wars: Agent of the Empire will be a James Bond style story set in the Star Wars galaxy. The main character will have a droid counterpart that will tag along on his adventures.
  • Star Wars: Crimson Empire will have a third series. The first issue of that will be on sale in a few weeks. A lead-in story was featured in DHP #1.
  • Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic will wrap up in February 2012. According to Atkins, they’ll send the series out with a bang.
  • John Jackson Miller will continue to do the Knight Errant novels for Random House’s imprint, Del Rey. The series will continue to follow the now 19 year old character, Kerra Holt.
  • Star Wars: Darth Vader and the Ghost Prison will launch next year.
  • Another Star Wars: Blood Ties series will kick off with a story called, “Boba Fett is Dead”.
