Last night during the studio’s Periscope broadcast, Treyarch confirmed some new updates are on their way to the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beta. These updates will be as free as the beta is, and will consist of a substantial amount of new content on top of what’s already there.

The level cap will be increased to 34, a level they’ve titled “Major” and awarded with special weapons, equipment, perks and scorestreaks. There is also a new map coming, titled “Stronghold” and described as “a high-tech Swiss chateau in the frozen Alps, featuring an asymmetrical design with a lethal mix of exposed sightlines and tight, close quarters.”

There will also be a new Specialist accessible, provided you can reach level 34: a robot named Reaper.

    • Real Name: Experimental War Robot (EWR)
    • Bio: Started as an expensive military R&D project to supplement Special Operations soldiers in the field, the EWR was a cutting-edge prototype combat robot, the most advanced in the world at the time. Budget overruns and embarrassing political incidents left the project all but a resource for scrap metal, except for the one prototype that remained.
    • Weapon: Scythe – Robotic arm that transforms into a high power Mini-Gun.
    • Ability: Psychosis – Infiltrate enemy DNI systems to simulate three decoy clones.

Finally, a new mode will be added to the game called Uplink. In this mode, players face off in an effort to take control of a downed satellite and get it into the enemy’s goal.

There will be more updates added to the beta as it progresses through development. For further news, keep your Twitter tuned to @Treyarch, @CallofDuty and the Treyarch Blog.
