Last night during the MTV Movie Awards, the new trailer for WB’s Suicide Squad premiered. A slightly longer version was then made available online.
You know what to do, but before you hit that window, crank the volume up. You’ll be glad we told you to….
The Suicide Squad promo campaign takes obvious cues from Guardians of the Galaxy, presenting crazy antics mixed with classic rock hits. Last time it was Bohemian Rhapsody; this time it’s Ballroom Blitz. If we end up getting “Feed My Frankenstein” in trailer #3, we’ll know they’re cribbing from the Wayne’s World playlist on purpose.
So far, this is the best trailer I’ve seen all year and I can’t stop replaying it. But given that there are jokes in it that weren’t in the first one, and we were just told reshoots were going on because every joke was spent in the previous trailer….they couldn’t have cut and edited the new footage THIS fast, could they? Perhaps it was just a rumor.
Reshoots or not, I want the fun movie they’re selling me here, so let’s hope it’s not all a lie. Suicide Squad slams into theaters like one of Harley’s hammers August 5.
