New “Sailor Moon” Anime Announced At Paris’ Japan Expo

During a 20th anniversary celebration event for the animation of Sailor Moon at the 2012 Japan Expo, a special announcement was made that a new anime will be produced. The event was broadcast live on the Japanese Nico Nico video website. The event featured appearances by Kotono Mitsuishi and Toru Furuya, who played Usagi Tsukino (Sailor Moon) and her love interest Mamoru Chiba (Tuxedo Mask) in the original series. Also in attendance was Kodansha’s Fumio Osano, an editor for Sailor Moon creator Naoko Takeuchi.

It was stated that there are plans to distribute the new Sailor Moon series worldwide once it begins broadcast next year; the anime is currently targeted for a Summer 2013 premiere.
