Netflix Releases Trailer for “The Casagrandes Movie”

Netflix has released a trailer for it’s latest addition from Nickelodeon, The Casagrandes Movie, set to debut on the streamer on March 22.

Based on the Nickelodeon series The Casagrandes, the movie follows Ronnie Anne as her birthday plans are derailed by a summer long trip to Mexico. She sets out to prove that she is old enough to do her own thing, even if that means confronting an ancient preteen demigod with angst that has apocalyptic potential.

The Casagrandes Movie is directed by The Casagrandes and The Loud House producer and director Miguel Puga, with a script written by Tony Gaba-Lobo, Rebecca May, Lalo Alcaraz, and Rosemary Contreras. Michael Rubiner, who helped develop the TV series with Puga, serves as an executive producer.

Reprising their roles from the series are Izabella Alvarez (Ronnie Anne), Sumalee Montano (Maria, who is Ronnie Anne’s mother), Sonia Manzano (Abuela Rosa), and Angélica Aragón (Mama Lupe). Other leading cast debuting in the movie includes Paulina Chávez (Fate: The Winx Saga), Kate del Castillo (The Book of Life, Monster High), and Cristo Fernández (Ted Lasso).

Spun off from the hit TV series The Loud House, The Casagrandes ran on Nickelodeon for 70 episodes from 2019-2022. It centered on Loud House character Ronnie Anne Santiago, who with her mother and brother had moved in with her extended family in Great Lakes City. The movie was announced to be in the works in April last year, with production wrapping up in November according to a tweet from Puga.

The Casagrandes joins a number of other movies based on Nickelodeon shows on Netflix. Previous titles include Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling, Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus, The Loud House Movie, and Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It will be joined later this year by another movie, Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Story.
