My Adventures With Superman, the popular “superhero romance” animated TV series that became a surprise sensation last year, is now getting a comic book mini-series this June. Written by Josie Campbell (producer for the show) with art by Pablo M. Collar, the mini-series will bridge the gap between the first and upcoming second season of the animated series.

Superhero comic book have long been known to inspire animated TV series, from the numerous Batman and Spider-Man shows, to indie comics like the Maxx and Invincible. Every once in a while though, a superhero animated series is popular or unique enough to inspire a tie-in comic series. Batman the Animated Series lead to a Batman Adventures comic, likewise the X-Men 90’s animated series lead to the X-Men Adventures comic book. To put it another way, My Adventures with Superman is turning into quite the hit for DC.
The solicitation text provided by DC Comics reads: “Clark Kent is a bit down and out, spending Christmas alone in Metropolis. But when he gets a tip about a monster in the sewers, Superman, Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen spring into action to investigate this mystery. What is this monster that can absorb anything it touches, and why is it here in Metropolis?”
Campbell released a statement, saying “I’m absolutely thrilled that Pablo and I get to bring fans even more adventures with Superman, this time in comic book form! This story is one we actually talked about in the writers room, but we didn’t have space for it in season one. So get ready for romance, comedy, super-powers, Jimmy Olsen talking a lot about how he’s super-rich now, and all the goodness of the show bundled into this action-packed miniseries.”
“My Adventures With Superman #1” will be available for purchase (at your local comic shop or online digitally) on June 4th.
