Mortal Kombat Legends Scorpion’s Revenge Gets Debut Trailer

Mortal Kombat Legends Scorpion's Revenge

The Mortal Kombat franchise has been going through a big renaissance if you will over the last year or so. Last year’s Mortal Kombat 11 was the best selling game in franchise history, and was nominated for many awards as a result. A new live-action movie based on the franchise is coming soon as well. But before that, an animated take on the series is heading to DVD and Blu-Ray in the form of Mortal Kombat Legends Scorpion’s Revenge.

The movie is going to be an animated version of the first game/movie. Where the Mortal Kombat tournament will be taking place and Raiden gathers the forces of Earthrealm to fight Shang Tsung in order to save it from pure destruction. There will also be a major subplot featuring the fan-favorite character of Scorpion, whom the movie is partially named after.

The movie itself will not hold back on the action or the violence based on the clips shown. The visual style is very much in the form of an anime, some have even likened it to certain 2000’s cartoons like TMNT.

What many are truly wondering though is whether this is just a complete rehash of the series, which we may see again via the upcoming live-action film, or will the two properties be different. Mortal Kombat Legends Scorpion’s Revenge will arrive this spring.

Scorpion’s Revenge stars Joel McHale as Johnny Cage, Jennifer Carpenter as Sonya Blade, Jordan Rodrigues as Scorpion & Hanzo Hasashi, Steve Blum as Sub-Zero, Artt Butler as Shang Tsung, Darin De Paul as Quan Chi, Robin Atkin Downes as Kano, David B. Mitchell as Raiden, Ike Amadi as Jax Briggs, Kevin Michael Richardson as Goro, Grey Griffin as Kitana & Satoshi Hasashi, and Fred Tatasciore as Demon Torturer. Batman: Assault of Arkham’s Ethan Spaulding is directing Scorpion’s Revenge and Teen Titans Go! Vs. Teen Titans’ Jeremy Adams wrote the script.
