It appears the story is not yet over, and history has yet to be fully told. Mortal Kombat 11 dove once again into the timeline of the long-running fighting series in order to bring past and present together to fight off another god via Kronika. And at the end of the main story modes, you got to see how the various characters would use the gods’ powers if they could control time. But now, the game is getting even deeper into the lore with the “Aftermath” DLC.
In this version of the story, Liu Kang and Raiden have defeated Kronika and received her powers, and Liu Kang must “reforge a new history.” Which he is all too happy to do for Raiden. But, just before doing it, Shang Tsung arrives to warn them that they don’t have everything they need in order to do this, and must go back in time to retrieve Kronika’s crown in order to truly save and remake history as we know it.
The trailer (which you can see below) showcases not just old character from the original Mortal Kombat 11 story, but also returning ones like Fujin and Sheeva. Both of whom play a major part in the story to come. We also see that Sindel gets her life and sanity back thanks to Shang Tsung, but to what part she plays…that remains a mystery.
But perhaps the biggest surprise of all in the Aftermath DLC is that along with the returning characters comes a new fighter…in Robocop.
For those who don’t know, Robocop was a character created in the 80’s and became a pop culture sensation. He’s been used in comics, video games, and even in WCW Wrestling once upon a time. He’s even faced the Terminator a time or two in various media. So for him to come to Mortal Kombat is a big deal.
The DLC will be available individually or as part of the Kollector’s pack on May 26th.
