Monsters At Work Lives; Definitive Release Date Set

monsters at work

Last December Disney released a massive infodump of every major movie and TV series they were working on. The entire slate for Disney+ over the next year was revealed, with a few new animated series coming from Disney proper and a few from Pixar. There was one curious absence though: Monsters At Work, one of the first shows ever to be announced for Disney+ back in April 2019. It was going to be Pixar’s first TV series, but Forky Asks A Question and Pixar Popcorn beat it to the punch. By all indication, Monsters At Work appeared to be abandoned.

Guess not. Disney just revealed their planned slate of originals for Disney+ up to July, and at the end of it, there’s the show. Not only that, it has a solid release date of July 2.

Plus, there’s a lengthier official description than we previously had, revealing the cast list and a bit more about the plot. What we DID know was that this would be the first Monsters-related bit of material to take place after the movie ended, when monsters don’t scare children for a living anymore.

That’s lousy luck for Tyler Tuskmon, top student of Monsters University and new recruit at Monsters Inc. He’s eager to scare the socks off kids all over the world. But his first day of work happens to be the VERY DAY AFTER the company’s function is entirely switched. It’s going to be a rough adjustment for Tyler, and his rule-obsessed co-worker Cutter and scatterbrained boss Fritz aren’t helping his mood.

Ben Feldman stars as the voice of Tyler, Henry Winkler is playing Fritz and Alanna Ubach provides the voice of Cutter. There is also “an opportunistic plumber” named Duncan, played by Lucas Neff…the Yeti, voiced by Pixar “good luck charm” John Ratzenberger…and surprisingly, appearances by Mike Wazowski and James P. “Sulley” Sullivan, voiced by Crystal and Goodman themselves! Did not expect them to swing that.

The one thing we still don’t know is what Tyler looks like, because no clips from the series have ever surfaced. But surely a trailer is arriving soon. Monsters At Work finally shows up July 2 on Disney+.
