It’s been a little over 24 hours since the announcement that Minecraft Steve would be coming to Super Smash Bros Ultimate as a part of the Fighter Pack 2 DLC as the second character in the set. And many gamers are still trying to figure out how they feel about all of this. If for no other reason than it’s a rather atypical character to bring into the fold. However, while the fans might be mixed in their feelings, there’s one group who are absolutely THRILLED to have the game represented in Ultimate, the developers of Minecraft: Mojang.
In a special post on the Minecraft site, the team behind the game reveled in the fact that they are going to get their character in the game. Even one of the team stating that they got an “invitation letter” from the Smash Bros team (which is a reference to the other trailers for the past two titles) for Steve and Alex, before promising that this isn’t a hoax or an “April Fool’s Joke”, that this is very real.

The team truly is excited for Minecraft to be in Ultimate, but, they also teased that the information that everyone is wondering, “When will Steve arrive in Smash?” will be answered tomorrow in the special Smash Bros Minecraft Live session done by Masahiro Sakurai. So you’ll need to stay tuned for that.
Now, as for the gamers, there are many are a bit split about this decision. Mainly because while none will deny that Minecraft is the best-selling game of all time, that doesn’t necessarily mean that Minecraft Steve belongs in Smash Bros. Especially when there are TONS of characters desired by Smash players who likely won’t make the game now.
Still, only time will tell how Steve, Alex, Zombie and Enderman play in Smash whenever they arrive.
