What was development for Mega Man 11 like? What things changed in the process?
Mega Man 11 is at true return for the Blue Bomber, and both fans and critics have been responding positively to what the game did in returning to the classic feel of the original 10 games. However, in an interview, the team revealed that they weren’t always going to go with the classic feel, they actually had something different in mind. What changed?
“It’s Capcom’s duty to correspond to fans’ hope”, left a deep impression in my memory. I could feel how serious he was when he said the word “duty”. Since then, we put out so many plans, and a lot of people in the company was cheering for us… Our initial plan wasn’t Rockman 11 actually. But I want this to be released in another form eventually, so details about it will be kept a secret for now.” said producer Kazuhiro Tsuchiya.
So it seems it wasn’t just the fans that brought back the game, but the fans inspired what it should be. A very worthy thing. Yet now, you have to wonder just what the game would’ve looked like if the developers had their vision come true.
