The Hollywood Reporter reports that actor Luke Perry died on Monday due to complications of a massive stroke last Wednesday. He was 52.
Perry was best known to TV audiences as Dylan McKay on Beverly Hills, 90210, a show that gave him instant stardom as well as teen idol status. The show aired for ten years. His other TV credits include Oz, Jeremiah, and Body of Proof. Most recently, he played Fred Andrews, Archie’s father on the hit CW series Riverdale. Riverdale stopped production after the announcement of Perry’s death.
His movie credits include the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer; the biopic 8 Seconds, where he played bullrider Lane Frost; and Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, where he co-starred with Oscar winners Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio and which is due out later this summer.
Perry’s voiceover roles include the ubiquitous role as himself on episodes of The Simpsons, as well as on Johnny Bravo. He was the voice of Napoleon Brie on Biker Mice from Mars, Sub-Zero in Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm, and Rick Jones in the 90’s version of The Incredible Hulk.
