The Day The Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie

It is now officially confirmed: a Looney Tunes movie produced by WB in this day and age WILL see theatrical release. Titled The Day The Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie, it’s the only one of three such proposed movies to make it this far, the most famous being the vaulted Coyote Vs Acme. Bye Bye Bunny was the other.

GFM Animation acquired the distribution rights to The Day The Earth Blew Up from WB last year, and domestically, the feature will be released through Ketchup Entertainment. Mark your calendars for February 28, 2025, for that is the day this movie will actually open. It’s really happening!

The Day The Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie is directed by Pete Browngardt (creator and voice of Uncle Grandpa) and features the voice of Eric Bauza as both Daffy and Porky. Other voices include Candi Milo, Fred Tatasciore, Peter MacNicol, Wayne Knight and Laraine Newman.

According to what plot details there are, the duck and the pig uncover evidence of an impending alien invasion while working at a bubble gum factory. There are also zombies involved and Petunia Pig will make one of her rare appearances. None of these details reveal why the Earth blows up, but we’d imagine Daffy has something to do with it.

The Day the Earth Blew Up is a historical moment for the Looney Tunes franchise, and we are proud to be partnering with Warner Bros. Animation to bring this film to audiences theatrically. We cannot wait for audiences of all ages to experience one of the smartest animated films in recent years,” says Gareth West, CEO of Ketchup Entertainment.

“Gareth’s enthusiasm for Warner Bros. Animation’s spectacular, Looney adventure persuaded us that Ketchup Entertainment were the right partners for releasing the film in North America. We’re looking forward to continuing to work with the team as they prepare for audiences to embrace Porky Pig and Daffy Duck on the big screen,” adds Fred Hedman of GFM Animation.

No trailer yet, but the 100-second clip released last June is still up and still as hilarious as ever. We look forward to finally seeing The Day The Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie next February. We would’ve liked to see Coyote Vs Acme as well.
