Live-Action Fullmetal Alchemist Makes Netflix Debut This Monday

fullmetal alchemist

You have to wonder: what’s what Netflix’s obsession with real-world versions of popular anime shows? They brought us a live-action Death Note last year, and a live-action Sword Art Online is on the way. Where does it end?

With this new one, however, you can’t really blame them. This live-action take on Fullmetal Alchemist was made in Japan, with Japanese actors, and Netflix just happens to be distributing the US version. The final trailer was released today. How’s it look?

You know the story of Fullmetal Alchemist by now. Edward Elric’s attempt at alchemy to revive his dead mother blows up in face — literally. Edward loses his arm and leg, while his little brother loses his whole body. Now they’re on a journey in search of the Philosopher’s Stone, which may have the power to bring Alphonse’s body back. For now, his spirit inhabits a large suit of armor.

You can see how this movie turned out February 19, but you’ll need a Netflix subscription. Fullmetal Alchemist will be in Japanese with English subtitles.
