Justice Society: World War II Trailer Released

justice society: world war II

Warner Bros has released over 40 animated movies revolving around its stable of DC superheroes. The 42nd will be Justice Society: World War II, and its trailer was released today.

Those of you familiar with The Flash through his live-action TV show know that Barry Allen’s prime source of getting into trouble is through messing with the Speed Force. And if you don’t watch it and have no idea what the Speed Force is, the short of it is he can travel through time and space by running really really fast. This particular story takes place the first time Barry ever tried this.

Why is it the Justice SOCIETY and not the Justice LEAGUE? Because where Barry winds up, there’s not a Justice League yet. The Society is America’s first organized assembly of superheroes, united to fight the Second World War and defeat the Nazi forces. Consisting of Wonder Woman, Hourman, Black Canary, Hawkman, Steve Trevor and Jay Garrick (the original Flash), their hands are a little full at the moment to help Barry.

But they soon realize his presence is going to cause massive problems for the fabric of time, and they have no choice but to help him figure out this Speed Force thing. The Justice Society actually predates the Justice League in reality too — they first appeared in 1941, while the first Justice League appearance wouldn’t happen until over two decades later.

Justice Society: World War II stars Stana Katic (Castle) as Wonder Woman, Matt Bomer (Doom Patrol) as The Flash, Elysia Rotaru (Arrow) as Black Canary, Chris Diamantopoulos (Silicon Valley) as Steve Trevor, Omid Abtahi (American Gods, The Mandalorian) as Hawkman, Matthew Mercer (Critical Role, Overwatch) as Hourman, Armen Taylor (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind) as Jay Garrick, and most importantly, Darin De Paul (Overwatch, Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge) as Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

Justice Society: World War II is coming soon from Warner Bros. As we previously reported, all versions of the film (both digital and physical) will come with a new DC short starring Kamandi, The Last Boy on Earth.
