Jonah Hex Will Guest Star On Legends Of Tomorrow

Everyone’s favorite disfigured cowboy of legend will be making a special appearance in Legends of Tomorrow’s first season, Variety reported today.

Created by writer John Albano and artist Tony DeZuniga back in the 70’s, Jonah Hex has been in and out of publication over the years and has had an even wilder ride in cinema. His feature film debut (co-starring Megan Fox) was a public and critical flop. He had a better adaption in the form of a short film directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, but few people saw it. Hex also made a guest appearance on an episode of Batman: The Animated Series, told in flashback and narrated by Ra’s Al Ghul.

This will be the rough-as-guts bounty hunter’s second live-action appearance, and Legend of Tomorrow’s producer Robert Guggenheim is eager to put his stamp on the character. “Ever since we decided that ‘Legends’ would involve time travel, we were eager to do a story set in the Old West,” he told Variety. “But if you’re going to do a story set in the DC Universe version of the Old West, you simply MUST include Jonah Hex in it. We’re thrilled about bringing another well known, beloved DC character to television.”

The Jonah Hex episode will be the series’ 11th. As for who’s playing him, the casting hasn’t been announced yet. Legends of Tomorrow itself will debut Thursday, January 21 on The CW.
