Infinity Train Is Finite After All: Fourth Season Will Be The Last

Infinity Train creator Owen Dennis was once quoted as saying his show had eight seasons worth of story to tell. We’re not sure where the other 50% will be told, but it won’t be on HBO Max, as WB announced today the upcoming fourth season of the show will be its last.

With that downer came some new information about Season Four including a trailer. This season’s protagonists are Ryan and Min, two best friends from Canada who are into music. As they approach high school graduation, they have big dreams of starting a band and going on tour throughout the Northern Hemisphere…but of course, you know what happens to them next. They wake up seemingly in the middle of nowhere, with a talking bell floating in front of them. And they don’t take it well.

The bell tells them she’s never seen two people get on the train at the same time, no less from ANOTHER train (oddly, that’s where the portal appears this time). Both Ryan and Min have the same number, and the bell remarks that it’s funny two mortal enemies would enter the train simultaneously. Ryan immediately corrects her, stating Min is his friend. But the bell may be sensing tension between them that will probably be amplified as their journey through the train continues.

“I’m so thankful to the crew of Infinity Train for helping make it what it became and to the fans for their incredible support over the years,” Dennis said in a statement published by EW.com. “While Book 4 is the end of the line, I’ll always be grateful and never forget that this series has meant so much to so many people.”

The silver lining here is that the announcement of the series’ end came BEFORE the fourth season premiered, not AFTER, meaning it wasn’t by surprise and Dennis may have had some time to give the show a satisfying conclusion. In the end only 40 episodes of Infinity Train were made (which is more than Zim got, but still). The final season premieres on HBO Max April 15.
