Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity is aiming to not just bring gamers back into the world of Breath of the Wild before the sequel comes out, it’s also aiming to tell more stories of how everything fell to Calamity Ganon. To that end, new trailers for Age of Calamity are teasing the various characters that you’ll meet and fight against. Including in the latest trailer where the Yiga Clan are revealed to be back.
In Breath of the Wild, the Yiga Clan are a group of assassins who can impersonate other people and transform into their fighter forms in mere seconds to get in a sneak attack on you. Their leader is Kohga, a very over-the-top fighter who is going to kill you…to death. Check out their return trailer below.
What might be key here though is that Kohga and the Yiga Clan are clearly following the orders of someone. This is important because this was NOT in Breath of the Wild when we fight the Yiga Clan one hundred years later. What’s more, eagle-eye viewers will note that the mysterious being has the Gerudo symbol on their forehead, making their arrival all the more important. Could this be someone like Vaati? Or perhaps a brand new character that’ll arrive in Breath of the Wild 2? The mysteries of this character could prove vital for what is to come next.
Either way though, Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity is shaping up to be much more than a basic “Warriors Game” like many have feared. The teams behind Breath of the Wild are truly working with developer Koei Tecmo to make sure that this feels like a true Zelda game while also being true to Warriors titles of the past.
We’ll find out just how well that balance works here when Age of Calamity arrives next month.
