The video streaming service Hulu and Turner Broadcasting have reportedly reached their first-ever multiyear licensing deal, which secures Hulu exclusive rights to programming from television networks Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, TBS and TNT. Under the deal Hulu will debut current animated series from Adult Swim and Cartoon Network for the first time, in addition to older seasons and series from the networks’ broadcast history. Adult Swim programming headed for Hulu includes but isn’t limited to Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Rick and Morty, Robot Chicken, Sealab 2021, Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! and The Venture Bros. Meanwhile, Hulu’s slate of Cartoon Network programming highlights the likes of Adventure Time, Ben 10, Dexter’s Laboratory, The Amazing World of Gumball, Clarence, The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack, Over the Garden Wall, Regular Show and Steven Universe.
This news comes shortly after Cartoon Network and Adult Swim programming left Netflix Instant on March 30, two years after it became available in 2013 through a deal struck between Netflix and Time Warner at the time. Since then Netflix’s expansion into original and exclusive programming has included a number of new and upcoming shows aimed directly at children, such as The Adventures of Puss In Boots, All Hail King Julien, Danger Mouse, the third season of DreamWorks Dragons, Dinotrux, Inspector Gadget, King Kong – King of the Apes, Magic School Bus 360°, Richie Rich, season 6 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Turbo FAST, seasons 2 and 3 of VeggieTales in the House, and Winx Club WOW: World of Winx.
