HULU TO DEBUT JIM HENSON’S “DOOZERS,” THE FIRST ORIGINAL SERIES FOR HULU KIDS

Animated Preschool Series Inspired by Beloved “Fraggle Rock” Characters to Launch Exclusively in the U.S. on Hulu and Hulu Plus on April 25, 2014

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Feb. 10, 2014) – Today Hulu announced its first original series pickup for Hulu Kids with “Doozers,” the innovative animated preschool series from The Jim Henson Company (“Dinosaur Train” and “Sid the Science Kid”) and DHX Media (“Yo Gabba Gabba” and “Johnny Test!”). The 52-episode Hulu Original encourages children to design and create, and is inspired by the wildly popular characters from the classic Henson series “Fraggle Rock.”

Hulu Kids viewers will be introduced to the fun and adventurous “Pod Squad,” Spike, Molly Bolt, Flex and Daisy Wheel. The four Doozer kids live at the edges of our world and right under our noses in the fantastical, modern and eco-friendly Doozer Creek. They’re green, they’re cute, they’re three inches tall and full of energy, ideas and enthusiasm. Doozers put their ideas into action and change their dreams into reality, from designing a Doozer Derby racing car to flying in a kaleidoscope of butterflies or building a giant gingerbread house! The series celebrates the spirit of being an innovator and inspires all kids to have an “I can do it” attitude. “Doozers” features a ground breaking design thinking curriculum, which is part of an overall STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) initiative.

“The series encourages kids to embrace their own creativity. Inspired by a whole new group of whimsical characters our viewers will want to design, tinker and experiment with their own ideas while learning to have confidence and resilience to reach their goals,” said The Jim Henson Company’s CEO Lisa Henson. “Our pod squad is right at home with Hulu Kids, because Hulu is a company of builders and innovators like the Doozers, and because kids can learn from and spend time with these characters on-demand like never before.”

“Doozers” debuts on Hulu and Hulu Plus on Friday, April 25. “Doozers” is a Hulu Original Series for Hulu Kids, Hulu’s ad-free hub just for kids featuring current-season hits and past favorites such as “Fraggle Rock,” “Pokemon,” “SpongeBob SquarePants,” “Thomas and Friends,” “Caillou” and more at http://www.hulu.com/kids.

“Doozers” is executive-produced by Lisa Henson, and Henson’s Executive Vice President of Children’s Entertainment, Halle Stanford, DHX’s Media’s President and COO Steven DeNure and Senior Vice-President Anne Loi. The series is co-produced by The Jim Henson Company and DHX, with assistance from the Nova Scotia Film Industry Tax Credit and the participation of The Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit.
