Slight
change in the email from the last update. Basically, go to their MySpace
blog now.
Shout! Factory is thinking about commissioning new
episodes of Home Movies from Loren Bouchard, Brendan Small, Soup2Nuts
and the entire Home Movies crew. Producing TV is expensive. Not a
big deal for a television station collecting advertising dollars,
but pretty steep for a small operation like [Shout! Factory]. Which
is why we're trying to get a sense if user sponsored TV (as opposed
to commercially sponsored TV) would work. That being said, we need
as many people (thousands) to go to our blog (and then subscribe to
the series) as possible.
The shows would be available either as a download or shipped to you
on a DVD. Episodes would run approx. 15-25 minutes and there would
be about 8 of them. There is the potential that when put together
the new episodes would make a Home Movies Movie. New episodes would
be created every 2-3 months. We're trying to figure out if there are
enough people out there that would be interested in seeing new Home
Movies this way. If you would be interested in something like this,
go to our My Space blog and post your interest. Here's a link:

Well...
I got
an email today from a woman from Shout!
Factory (the company that produces the Home Movies DVDs).
Hi,
Shout! Factory is thinking about commissioning new episodes of Home
Movies from Loren Bouchard, Brendan Small, Soup2Nuts and the entire
Home Movies crew. This would be available either as a download or
shipped to you on a DVD. The cost would be $5 per episode. Episodes
would run approx. 15-25 minutes and there would be about 8 of them.
There is the potential that when put together the new episodes would
make a Home Movies Movie. New episodes would be created every 2-3
months. We're trying to figure out if there are enough people out
there that would be interested in seeing new Home Movies this way.
Would you be willing to post the above paragraph and tell every one
to
drop us a line at [email protected]
if they're interested?
Now lest
anyone get excited, I would file this under "slight possibility"
at best. But hey, if you're interested, fire away; they want to hear
from you.

Later!
This
is The Landstander, longtime owner of this site, saying that only
a few years after the show's cancellation (and a few months after
the last of the DVDs) that I am done with this site. I've been doing
this site since January of 2003, and it has been suprisingly a lot
of fun. The good folks at the show were even nice enough to contact
me (I got a free bookbag!).
As a
final update, I revised a lot of the guides, including my own reviews.
You can check out the Episode Capsules
or the Characters section. I added a
more extensive guide to the DVDs, organized
some of the thoughts on the last episode,
and even added a soundtrack lyric page
(thanks to whoever emailed me that suggestion). And I should mention
that I'm not changing my email, so if anyone has any further contributions,
feel free to contact me.
Barring
the show ever coming back in some form (which is pretty much not going
to happen), this site is 'finished', so to speak. Thanks to everyone
who contributed/helped me out/hosted me over the years. I leave this
site up and open to anyone who finds it over the years, and if somehow
you can get more out of the show because of this site, neato.
