The Hollywood Reporter covers the official launch of ZAG Animation Studios, a collaboration between longtime TV veteran Haim Saban, filmmaker Chris Columbus, producer Michael Barnathan, and kids entertainment specialist Jeremy Zag. The studio has 10 animated features in development, with an eye towards releasing one 3-D CGI animated feature and one CGI/live-action hybrid feature per year starting in 2017. The studio’s first feature film will be the CGI-animated Melody, to be directed by Chris Columbus and Jeremy Zag. Additional films on the slate (though without stated release dates) include the hybrid Ghostforce and the CGI Abominable.

Toonzone covered earlier revelations of ZAG Animation Studios in June, based on appearances at the 2014 Licensing Expo. Missing from the Hollywood Reporter‘s current coverage is mention of Ladybug (or The Miraculous Ladybug), labeled in earlier coverage as the studio’s marquee property.
