It’s holiday gift guide time! We’re in the last stretch of 2016, and we’ve been racking our brains for Comics & Collectibles related gifts for friends and family for the holidays. Everyone loves that warm and fuzzy feeling you get as you see the smile on someone’s face when you’ve given them a gift that means something to them. In this gift guide we’ll go over some of the gifts we’re looking to get for our loved ones (and maybe a few special treats for ourselves), and through this hopefully help you narrow down the list of potential gifts for the fellow fans and collectors in your life.
This Comics & Collectibles Holiday Gift Guide consists entirely of ideas voted in by ToonZone’s crew. Participants created a gift suggestions list. From there, a master list was created. Each of us selected our top ten gifts and assigned them a point value from 1-10. The gift ideas with the highest point value made this list.

DC Collectibles – Batman: The Animated Series: Deluxe Batmobile
The Batman: The Animated Series Deluxe Batmobile comes with two 6-inch action figures of Batman and Robin with cloth capes, as well as the Bat-Signal. This Batmobile has light-up headlights, brakes, an engine, and independently moving wheels. Fans of the critically-acclaimed 90s Batman cartoon will want this iconic vehicle with its sleek design as part of their collection.
The Batmobile measures approximately 24 inches long, while the Bat-Signal measures about 6 1/2 inches tall x 5 1/2 inches wide x 5 1/8 inches long. However, you won’t fully comprehend the scale until you see the Batmobile next to an actual human being. That is why you should check out this review by YouTube user “Scorpion72”. In addition to reviewing the Deluxe Batmobile, he compares it to the previously released, non-deluxe version.

Super Mario Adventures
After about two decades out of print, the good folks of Viz Media have delved into the archives of Nintendo Power to deliver Super Mario Adventures to nostalgic and new fans alike. Loosely inspired by Super Mario World and earlier titles, the comic is an irreverent and fun-loving series that dares to imagine what would happen if Koopa King Bowser got it into his head that marrying the Princess was the way to go. The comic puts Mario and company into a colorful, zany world that never takes itself very seriously, and in a welcome change the Princess gets to take an active role in the story and does as much saving as Mario and Luigi do.
Super Mario Adventures stands as one of the most enjoyable pieces of Super Mario media around years later, and begs the question of why Nintendo hasn’t approved more fiction along this line for the property. Kids and the young at heart alike will find plenty to like here.

DC Collectibles – Batman: The Animated Series Batwing
The DC Collectibles – Batman: The Animated Series Batwing is an elegant replica of the vehicle from the critically-acclaimed animated series. The replica has a sleek exterior, retractable landing wheels and a light-up canopy worthy of any collector.
Owners will need plenty of room to store the Batwing because the vehicle is approximately 37 inches long, 25 inches wide, 6 inches tall with the retractable wheels out! This tremendous replica of one of the Dark Knight’s most iconic vehicles is an excellent choice for fans of Batman: The Animated Series and collectors in general.

Figma Link (Link Between Worlds)
The Figma The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds “Link” figure is a fully articulated, face adjustable figure from Good Smile Company’s Figma line of high quality poseable character figures. It comes with a jointed clear stand for multiple angle display, as well as two faceplates to give Link either a cheery or serious attitude. The standard version includes his shield and Master Sword, while the DX adds three extra weapons, two props, and a baby Maiamai.
The Figma line is one of the best choices for Legend of Zelda figures, especially if you’re looking for articulation. The Figma Skyward Sword Link is well made and easy to pose (and overused in internet memes because of it), so the Link Between Worlds version is sure to make any Zelda fan’s holiday a good one.

Crunchyroll Subscription
It’s as simple as this: if you like watching anime, Crunchyroll is your #1 stop on the internet. Every quarterly season they reliably deliver the latest in television broadcast anime to viewers with English subtitles, but even those who don’t care about saying current will now find a decade’s worth of content in its back catalog. Its selection expanded even further in 2016 through a deal inked with major distributor Funimation Entertainment, which rendered Crunchyroll the home to subtitled versions of its programming while Funimation takes the lead on hosting English-language dubs.
Crunchyroll Premium subscribers get ad-free access to all anime available in high-definition video, in addition to a selection of manga (much from publisher Kodansha USA) and live-action Asian dramas. A three-month gift subscription for $19.95 represents an affordable and potent gift for animation fans on a budget.

Link to the Past Comic from Nintendo Power
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past is one of the older Zelda titles, but originated many of the standard elements seen in the 3D titles. This comic adaptation from Shotaro Ishinomori, famed creator of Kamen Rider and Super Sentai, originally ran in serialized format in Nintendo Power magazine in 1992. Long since out of print, it has now been reissued and is ready to be devoured by old and new fans alike.
Most children of the eighties and nineties will remember this comic as one of the thrills of getting Nintendo Power in the mail, and now that it has been reprinted, they can share it with siblings or children of their own. Written with Western audiences in mind, it combines the full color graphic novel style with Tezuka style storytelling; and the art style is very similar to the art of the instruction manual. Perfect for any comic or manga fan.

DC Collectibles Batman: Mask of the Phantasm: Batman and the Phantasm Action Figure
In the 1993 animated film, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, a mysterious figure is killing off Gotham City’s mob bosses. Batman sets out to find out who has been committing these murders while avoiding the Gotham City P.D. and a power-hungry D.A., all of whom believe Batman is behind the crimes.
The Batman and Phantasm action figures are each 6 inches tall. They each come with accessories, including alternate hands and display stands. These figures are definitely an upgrade. These DC Collectibles figures have more points of articulation than the Kenner figures released when Mask of the Phantasm was originally in the theaters, and the paint jobs are a lot nicer. They are of much higher quality and will look great on any fan’s shelf.

Funko Batman The Animated Series Joker Pop Heroes Figure
The Joker, voiced by Mark Hamill, in Batman: The Animated Series is arguably one of the top three renditions of The Batman’s arch-nemesis. It is surpassed only by Heath Ledger’s turn as The Joker in The Dark Knight Returns and Jack Nicholson’s turn in 1989’s Batman. Funko has released their interpretation of Bruce Timm’s iconic character design as part of their POP Heroes series. This Funko POP vinyl Joker figure stands 3 3/4 inches tall and comes in a window display box.
If you’re a fan of both Batman: The Animated Series and Funko POP figures, this one is a must-get. How could you not want this? He’s holding a tiny card with his face on it. Although perhaps you should keep him on a shelf in the living room, with your other figures, and not on your nightstand watching over you as you sleep.

The Answer by Rebecca Sugar
The Answer is the New York Times bestselling picture book by Steven Universe creator, Rebecca Sugar. Illustrated by Elle Michalka and Tiffany Ford, the book adapts the episode of the same name, focusing on two gem aliens named Ruby and Sapphire, their first romantic meet-up, and eventual fusion of their current form, Garnet.
Steven Universe is a groundbreaking show in many ways, able to tackle mature themes like loss, betrayal, and mental illness with great respect, but none as thoroughly prominent as its LGBTQ-friendly content. The Answer adapts a poignant chapter in the Steven Universe saga, presenting a love between two women. It’s a great gift for fans of the show, but absolutely vital for kids because it teaches them the message that anyone can fall in love, regardless of gender. It also oozes with charm (I especially adore Ruby and Sapphire breaking the fourth wall on every page while they provide commentary) and leaves you feeling warm and fuzzy inside.

LEGO Disney Castle
LEGO has issued Disney sets in the past, but none compare to the sheer scale and detail of the LEGO Disney Castle. Weighing it at over 4,000 pieces and a hefty $350 price tag, this premium set was designed to resemble the Cinderella Castle at Walt Disney World resort and finds ways to pay tribute to decades of Disney history in its interior, from memorabilia from “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” to the magical rose from “Beauty and the Beast” and, of course, Cinderella’s slipper. Minifigures for Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Donald and Daisy Duck, and Tinker Bell accompany the building.
LEGO recommends the Disney Castle for ages 16 and up, and the sheer scale of it certainly does seem to have die-hard Disney fans and passionate builders in mind. This is a set that demands prominent and prideful display when completed, and you’ll certainly want a dedicated space for it: the completed castle measures 29″ high, 18.8″ wide and 12″ deep. Disney Castle represents a welcome alternative to the simpler Disney-themed sets aimed at younger ages, which are decent enough but mostly represent a modest imitation of some particular moment in a film. In comparison Disney Castle is a tribute to the studio at large. Beyond the Disney superfan in your life, LEGO builders that have enjoyed LEGO Castle sets or the modular buildings of the LEGO Creator line will likely get a huge kick out of this set.
