
During today’s Investor Day announcements at Disney, the Disney Twitter account tweeted highlights of the announcements for 4 hours in one thread. Among the highlights included the announcement that Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther will NOT be recast in order to honor Boseman’s legacy. Instead, Black Panther 2 will focus on the world of Wakanda.
Black Panther 2, opening July 8, 2022, is being written & directed by Ryan Coogler. Honoring Chadwick Boseman’s legacy & portrayal of T’Challa, @MarvelStudios will not recast the character, but will explore the world of Wakanda & the rich characters introduced in the first film.

- Captain Marvel 2 coming to theaters November 11, 2022.
- Hawkeye featuring Jeremy Renner returning as Hawkeye teaming up with Marvel comics’ Kate Bishop played by Hailee Steinfeld. The original series will air on Disney+.
- She-Hulk is coming to Disney+ with Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk and Tim Roth returning as the Abomination and Mark Ruffalo as Hulk himself.
- Other original series coming to Disney+ include Moon Knight, Secret Invasion starring Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury, Ironheart, Armor Wars featuring Don Cheadle as James Rhodes/War Machine, a new The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special written and directed by James Gunn (coming in 2022), and I Am Groot.
- Christian Bale joins the cast of Thor: Love and Thunder as the villain Gorr the God Butcher premiering in theaters May 6, 2022.
- A new Blade feature film with Mahershala Ali as Blade.
- The 3rd Ant-Man movie, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, starring Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfeiffer with Kathryn Newton as Cassie Lang and Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror.
- A new Fantastic Four feature with Jon Watts directing.
