Hayley Atwell To Voice Lara Croft In Netflix Anime

Video games have often been a place where incredible female characters rise up to take the spotlight alongside their male counterparts. One of them being Samus Aran who has a highly-anticipated game coming out next month in Metroid Dread. But the other that many love to praise, especially in recent years, is that of Lara Croft and the Tomb Raider franchise. Especially with the reboot trilogy from Square Enix, Lara was portrayed as the epic survivalist without peer, and fans are always looking for more adventures from her. And now, Netflix has announced an upcoming anime Tomb Raider series starring…Hayley Atwell.

If you think you know that name, you likely do. Hayley Atwell played Peggy Carter in the first Captain America movie, and was so beloved in the role by fans (due to her portrayal of a very one-note comic character) that she was allowed to go and do a one-shot for a film, then got her own TV series, and appeared in many MCU films all the way up until Avengers Endgame. She was the star of the first episode of Marvel’s What If…?

Netflix was the one who made the announcement and fans are already excited for what she will bring to the role because she absolutely knows how to play someone like Lara epically.

Now, as for what the anime series will be like, that’s a bit known and a lot unknown. We’ll explain. We know according to Netflix that the anime will take place after the events of the reboot trilogy. Apparently, Lara will have a new mission and the anime will be about that.

As for who else will show up, and what items or tombs will need to be raided, that remains a mystery for now. But when it arrives, you can bet that fans will be watching.
