MCM London Comic Con have announced that in partnership with Anime Limited and Sunrise the May convention will play host to the EU premiere of Mobile Suit Gundam The Origin III: Dawn of Rebellion. Following from the second episode which Anime Limited premiered at last year’s October event (in addition to a Gundam focus panel), the third episode will focus on Casval’s assumption of the Char Aznable alias and his return to his homeland to slowly begin his crusade for revenge against the Zabis, starting with befriending their youngest son Garma.
Although the double bill of the first two episodes screened last year was in English, at this time Anime Limited is still determining which version of the third episode they will be allowed to screen. Additionally while those two episodes ran as part of the wider MCM Loves Anime film festival held close to the event the current plan for May is solely to screen Dawn of Rebellion (though future MCM Loves Anime events are under consideration).
Not only will this mark the EU premiere of the new instalment but a panel will be held on the Saturday of the event led by series mecha designer Mika Akitaka and producer Osamu Taniguchi. Akitaka has numerous credits within the franchise including Gundam ZZ and Gundam 0083 in addition to series such as Martian Successor Nadesico and Five Star Stories. He’s also famed for his involvement in launching the MS Girls trend, in which mecha designs are anthropomorphised as cute girls in armour. Both Akitaka and Taniguchi will also be available for signings on the day.
MCM London Comic Con May 2016 runs next month over 27th-29th at the ExCel centre. For further details visit the official website and keep up with Anime Limited on Twitter and Facebook for more details on the screening and their upcoming events and releases.
