For the last several years, the world at large has been getting more and more tastes of the realm of Kaiju. Meaning monsters of incredible size. You know some of the names like with Godzilla, Ghidorah, Gamera, King Kong, and so on. The “Monsterverse” of the West brought them to life in four different movies that culminated very recently in the incredibly successful Godzilla vs Kong that has helped restore some faith in theaters as well as bringing more eyes to HBO Max. But, if you’re wanting even more from that realm, then this June you’ll want to watch Godzilla Singular Point on Netflix.
Unlike the Monsterverse, this will be a 13-episode anime. In fact, it’s already airing right now in Japan. But Netflix revealed via a new trailer that the anime will be coming overseas in June (no word on an English dubbing of the anime at present). Marking yet another unique anime for Netflix and continuing the attention for Godzilla.
Netflix officially describes Godzilla Singular Point as such, “Godzilla Singular Point is an all-new animated TV series that marks the beginning of a new project for Godzilla. This anime series unfolds to tell a new and original story unlike anything seen in the Godzilla franchise before.”
Check out the trailer for it below.
There’s a lot to unpack in that trailer. Not the least of which is a slew of monsters attacking Japan, a workshop building a robot to fight them. A future that has been foretold through data, a catastrophe that might be caused by Godzilla, and more.
The visual style is very striking and has some unique looks for some of the monsters. Should this be successful, more like this anime could arrive on Netflix. We’ll have to see how it does when it arrives this June.
