I thought that this week's episode was pretty bad. Romni being that upset over no one eating her curry that she forced Mimi into a duel over it wasn't really out of character exactly. She was excited about making curry and she was disappointed when no one wanted it, but it was just such a stupid reason to duel. It seems to be her main gag now and to be fair, Romin's cooking being so bad that it's an explosion is an improvement from her hunger pushing her into a breaking point, but it's still kind of annoying.
The duel itself was okay. I didn't really care about it when it was basically over a ridiculous gag and it was incredibly obvious that Romin was going to win. I'm pretty sure that Mimi isn't going to get an official victory at this rate. I didn't care about Mimi's cards either. They weren't really visually appealing or have an interesting strategy. She did try to mimic Romin's life point manipulation though. Her summoning chant for her new ace monster also felt a bit too long. Romin's new Fusion monster was pretty great though. CAND: Live had a pretty cool design and effect that worked well with her strategy. I also liked how happy Yuga was for Romin. Gakuto was too worried about the building exploding and Luke wanted to eat lunch, so neither of them were cheering for Romin, but Yuga was because he's kind and supportive like that.
Romin won, but her curry was taken away to be used for an experiment. She was still happy and Mimi wasn't forced to eat it, so it worked out for them. Luke being so hungry that he attacked the scientists just to eat the curry was so stupid that it was pretty funny. They hyped it up as this big danger and to be fair, it still led to a huge explosion, but it was a gag, so everyone was fine.
Mimi thinking that Yuga was the sixth sibling after realizing how similar their names are pretty much deconfirms that theory. Yuga being the long lost sixth Goha sibling has been a common theory for awhile from what I can tell. Mimi bringing it up like this doesn't necessarily mean it can't happen, but I think it makes it much more unlikely. If Yuga was supposed to be the sixth sibling, I don't think that they would bring it up so early in this arc. I think we would have gotten more details on Yuga's backstory or at least make his home life more mysterious. We barely know anything about the families of the main cast, but if Yuga was supposed to be adopted, I think that they would have established that sooner. Besides all that, Mimi's rationale was just based on their names starting with Yu, which would be a weak in-universe justification for the twist. If the opening theme is any indication, the sixth Goha sibling might look like Yuga, but I highly doubt that it's going to be him at this point.
I think a big reason why I hated this episode was also because this might be Romin's only duel for the arc. Not only was it over a really stupid reason, but the episode in general seemed like filler. Mimi's new position, the scientists and/or her theory on Yuga could be important later, but this is one of the few episodes in Sevens that seems easily skippable, which is a shame I'd like to see Romin duel more often. It certainly doesn't help that I still feel like she should have gotten her rematch with Yuka in the previous arc. It's not as bad as the first clip show episodes and to be honest, Romin has had worst duels that did advance the storyline, but it isn't really a good sign when a main character's only duel for an arc is filler. Even Gakuto's duel introduced the fact that other characters will have Fusion monsters and the episode itself still established the new status quo of the arc. This episode didn't really have anything of importance and that does annoy me when I really like Romin.
