I'm not sure if any of the other members besides Nightwing could handle being leader.
Well, at the start of Invasion, Superboy and Miss Martian said they happy with staying on the Team instead of joining the Justice League. It'd be neat if that bit was revisited and one of them ends up as the current leader.

Who is that dropping through the glass with Arrowette at the first of the promo? Batgirl/Cassandra Cain?
Maybe it's just Thirteen with a different suit on. But Cassandra appearing would be awesome.

If Kaldur's a member of the JL (which is all but confirmed since he's the new Aquaman), then I'm not surprised - it seemed to be the next logical stage of his journey. He'll probably have designation 30 - I just have a feeling about that.
With everything he helped accomplish by the Invasion finale, I wouldn't be surprised if he joined right after as -- what was the next one, 27?

You might be right!

Also, in the article about Kaldur’s new role as Aquaman, Greg Weisman mentions that this is “a big year for him”. I wonder if that might mean that season 3 takes place over the course of an entire year? It would certainly be a departure from the way that the passage of time was handled in the first two seasons, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see it happen.

I mean, scarecrow mask, Batfamily design scheme, standing next to Robin and Spoiler...it'd be more surprising if it wasn't her ;).

They could probably cover an entire year in 26 episodes :).

Perhaps. There was an implication of other Team members in an article, wasn't there? Plus, all those new designation letters, there's bound to be more but the question of are they still on the Team when the season starts. But I wonder if Weisman and Vietti get annoyed over the stills, trailers, clips, promos that give away story bits or new characters away since they're so spoiler-adverse.

I mean, it's the Team. Probably reasonable to assume there's more members then we think there are at this point :p.

Cass is also probably the most glaring omission of the generation highlighted on the Team right now, so it makes sense to feature her :).

I mean, with media and promotion as they are it's probably really difficult not to give anything away without personally going over every commercial or clip to make sure nothing gets spoiled...

lol, I think the longer the timeskip, the more members of the JL and Team there will be. Hopefully none have bit the dust.

Perhaps <cough>Marvels<cough> but I would guess some people want Cyborg, Raven, Starfire, and other famed Teen Titans in the comics to appear.

True, and doubtful they are. It's probably some marketing team.

  • In regards to Kaldur, it's pretty awesome he's becoming the new Earth-16 Aquaman. It makes a lot more sense than him becoming Manta (Come to think of it, this is kind of the reverse of Season 2). This time it feels more natural but I admit I didn't see it coming. It's cool he'll pretty much be the first - as far as we know - to take on the mantle of his mentor. I expected it to be Dick as Batman, eventually, but Kaldur makes sense.
  • If that really is Cassandra Cain in the new Trailer, the Bat-Family is going to be even bigger. That's kind of to be expected though (even as it is now it's only a fraction of what exists/existed in the comics). I wonder if she'll be either Batgirl, Black Bat, Orphan, or something else entirely (like Thirteen, if that is her and not Cass :p). Next thing you know they'll tease Red Hood or bring in Batwing or something along those lines.
  • I presume that was Lady Shiva fighting Katana later in the new promo. I've seen it suggested it might be Talia or even Roulette - each one makes sense, in some way or another. I am kind of leaning towards Shiva just to keep the legacy aspect (again, if that really is Cass with the heroes).

Anyway, things are looking great so far.

I think if she were Batgirl yet, she would be wearing the bat-symbol on her costume.

But considering Barbara is already Oracle by this point, I think it's probably inevitable that we'll see a new Batgirl at some point .

I don't think Roulette would make a lot of sense to be going toe-to-toe with Katana like that, at least outside of a casino or arena, and if they stay consistent with the comic Talia would probably be sporting something green over red, so I'm definitely leaning towards it being Shiva ;).

Well, I didn't mean it made sense for Roulette to be fighting Katana, specifically. I was only thinking she would fit into the story, possibly getting involved in the meta-human trafficking for her fight club.

Since they honored the 'order' of Robins, I'm curious if Helena has moonlighted briefly as Batgirl on Earth-16. heh.

I hope it is AJ but i suppose Topo might be a candidate as well.
Maybe. By the end of Invasion, he was around 18 to 19 years old since Weisman said he was 13 in season one (or in other words, the same age as Barbara). I would have figured he became an artisan. The comics established he wasn't a fighter but who knows if his stance changed since then.

Maybe Lorena Marquez/Aquagirl got brought in at some point. Though my preference is AJ i wouldn't mind Lorena.

Cass could also be using her Kusuma identity she used as a member of Justice League Elite in the comics

Depending on how bleeding edge Weisman & Vietti want to get (although I guess Batman & Robin Forever, which told this story, started three years ago at this point...), Cass' New 52 origin would dovetail perfectly with their "Metahuman Trafficking" plot.

In short, a woman code named "Mother" would abduct or otherwise produce made-to-order human beings for purposes ranging from simple high-end mail order spouses to sidekicks to perfect spies. Her chief enforcer is Orphan, AKA David Cain, who she had raised to be her muscle as she got older. He, in turn, decided he wanted to prove some of her most extreme theories on made-to-order assassins and fathered Cassandra with Lady Shiva.

So yeah. Easy to tie that in to the bigger human trafficking story they're doing. My money's on her at least starting off as Orphan.

I gotta get something off my chest... Kaldur bores me. He's cool. He's admirable. But he has never interested me much as a character. It just occurred to me that the characters I like tend to be the ones with rather large flaws. Maybe that explains it. Does anybody else feel the same way?

^I dig Kaldur. I liked that they went with a stoic character to balance out the more mercurial personalities on the Team.

This character does look a bit like Orphan minus the gold or when she was in Hong Kong with no codename for bit. Kasumi was that purple-red outfit, not really a match, but perhaps could still be her codename. I'd agree it could be Orphan or Kasumi if that's Cassie, imo.

EDIT: It's been reported DC Daily episode 73 has the first couple minutes of the season premiere - in part confirms that's Ice and gives away the time skip. It's only on the streaming service right now. Not sure off hand if/when it will be public to everyone.

Superman is also wearing a riff on his Bourassa New 52 design.

It looked a little different, but that might have been the darker colors. He's obviously not wearing trunks anymore :p.

Even for just a minute of screentime, the death of metahuman girl was very effective and soulcrushing. I could really feel BL's grief in that scene...

And the fact that the Parademons have regenerative capabilities already makes them more powerful than any other version. Maybe they were the "invaders" that took over Kylstar's homeworld?
