Welcome to the 22nd installment of the largest Young Justice discussion thread online! Watch Young Justice Saturdays at 10:30am (ET/PT) on Cartoon Network, with encore presentations Sundays at 10:30am (ET/PT) coming January 2013!

Series Description:
Young Justice: Invasion continues as the team (Aqualad, Kid Flash, Superboy, Miss Martian and Artemis), now led by Nightwing, and its new members (Robin, Blue Beetle, Beast Boy, Lagoon Boy, Wonder Girl, Bumblebee, Batgirl) go deeper and more covert than ever before. As team rivalry and personal conflicts arise, the team must band together to fight the real threat that faces Earth. This all-new series is produced by Warner Bros. Animation and based upon characters from DC Comics. Sam Register (Teen Titans, Ben 10, Batman: The Brave and the Bold) is the executive producer. Brandon Vietti (Batman: Under the Red Hood, Superman Doomsday, The Batman) and Greg Weisman (Gargoyles, The Spectacular Spider-Man, W.I.T.C.H.) are the producers.

This thread is for general discussion of the Young Justice animated series and related products (i.e., comics, toys, etc.). Keep it locked at The World's Finest and toonzone News for the latest updates!

I'd agree with this assessment, though I think Kid Flash is due for some major development. This was the kid who literally blew himself up in order to become a hero, and of the original six he's the one who struck me as the most genuinely excited about being a hero. Come season 2 he's pretty much burned out, but we don't really know exactly why yet. I'd bet it has something to do with confidence issues over his speed and/or the deaths of Jason Todd and Tula, but that's all speculation at this point.

I'm pretty sure all the deaths during the course of timeskip really hardened Wally. Like Blue Beetle said "Heroes aren't immortal", I wouldn't worry about the amount of development for Wally this season. I think Greg and the writers have a clear character arc for Wally this season. My guess is that Barry dies in the last episode of season 2 and his legacy motivates Wally to get back in the game as The Flash. Because face it guys, Barry's death is inevitable. He has one of the most important deaths of comic history. It's kind've important to Wally's character and his history. But that's just what I think.

True Barry was a Signature Death.

I agree that they have clear arc in mind for Wally. its just in the first half of this season he has been less relevant then Impulse and Blue Beetle and far less then the other 6. But yeah I do actually get the feeling that they know where they are taking the alums of S1 and they have done a much better job spreading the screen time.

While I don't think Dick has done a bad job as leader, I can kind of see the writers setting Wally or Conner up to take over primary leadership of the black-ops team should Dick choose to step down.

I'm not much of a comics person, so I have no knowledge of Barry's death(s) in them, but from a purely YJ perspective it seems odd to me that they would make an entire episode about him not dying to kill him off anyway. I do think Wally's eventually going to at least partially get over his issues and be willing to resume hero work, which could be ironic since there's a decent chance that her undercover work as Tigress(not to mention the good chance she'll be socially ostracized by the League/Team) will sour Artemis' opinion of hero work. Her and Wally will most likely work it out, but as a "spitfire" fan I find the prospect interesting.

Very true. Superboy and Miss M haven't been getting as much screen time this season.
But yeah ever since the last scene in Before the Dawn things look to be escalating very quickly.
So I'm guessing Wally's role get bigger as the season progresses.

Also, is it just me, but have you guys been enjoying season 2 more season 1? I sure have. I loved season 1, but season 2 leaves me salivating to see what happens in the next episode. That's why hiatuses suck.

You could arguably add Arsenal to the list as well.

As for Barry, I don't really see the point in saving him in "Bloodlines" and delaying Wally's ascent to the Flash if that's what they have planned down the road. I think there's obviously got to be some consequences for Bart's actions, but I don't think Barry dying is a given. I think it's just as likely that Bart robbed Wally of his destiny (as the Flash) by saving Barry and Wally's the one that ends up paying the price.

It's called foreshadowing dude.

I agree on the Artemis part. From that comic con trailer it looks like Artemis is being traumatized by her experiences as Tigress.

I hope not. Connor not speaking up on Miss Martian is a major failing. Clearly shows he cannot separate personal feelings from the job. Although I suppose if new leader has to be from the Main Six, he is the only option. If not then Batgirl has my vote.

Well it depends on how they want time travel to work. Assuming the timeline self corrects itself then Barry dies anyway because he has to die and that cannot be changed. Or it could be Impulse introduces a new variable that just means Barry dies some time else because Bart coming back changed the whole game.

Actions and consequences seems to be a major theme of the show. In the Bart Allen/Reach Apocalypse timeline it looks like that things started to go bad when Vandal Savage took control of the JL. That started a chain reaction of bad events
(Jaime getting the scarab eveantually earth's biggest bad, Miss M mindwiping Kaldur, Mount Justice explosion, etc.)

I doubt Artemis will be "socially ostracized by the League/Team" if/when she returns. At least, not to a significant degree. Plus there's Wally for support. I think most of them will be too relieved that she's actually alive. I think most of whatever trust issues they'll have will be directed at Dick and/or Kaldur.

Along the same vein...what if Artemis wasn't the first fake death they pulled off? What if Tula's not only alive but infiltrated Black Manta's organization even before Kaldur? I know he spent some time in front of her memorial statue in "Darkest" but that could have been to keep up appearances. And I know Wally mentioned her in "Darkest" too but maybe he doesn't know about it, so he was unintentionally making Dick feel even guiltier. Remember, even after 10 (or 11) episodes and two comic issues, we still know nothing about the circumstances of her death. She could be a trump card Dick and Kaldur have up their sleeves.

I'm not sure I agree with you...

If I was Jaime, the first thing I would do to Artemis the next time I see her would be to electrocute her and see how much she likes it. Aqualad shocked Jaime. Artemis drugged him. He was then imprisoned and tortured by the Reach. Now, if these kids were leaguers, I might expect them to be more forgiving. But they're not leaguers; they're kids. I'm a huge spitfire fan, but if I was one of these kids, I'd be furious. And I will be disappointed with Greg if he doesn't address this.

Some events in time are so important that they HAVE to happen for the universe to continue on a balanced path.
I recall in the comics, Booster Gold (time travelling superhero) went back in time to undo a significant event. Each time he tried to change it, it ended up happening, but in a different way. I think Barry's death is a similar event. I have a feeling that this is the message Greg will be aiming to get across.

Just as an aside, from my knowledge of DC comics (which is pretty extensive, but not perfect) Barry Allen's death was the longest time a hero has been dead. He death lasted at least as long as I have been alive (25 years, golly, am I too old for cartoons yet?).

I have to say, the thing I love most about this series is that while the characters are similar to their comic book counterparts, they are not so much that I expect certain things to happen (with the exception of Barry's death). It's especially nice because I'm not really into this new 52 right now, mainly due to the lack of Wally.

I was just wondering, is anyone thinking about dressing up as a character from Young Justice for Halloween? Because I was thinking about dressing up as Aqualad (in his season 1 outfit) for a Halloween party. Actually I'm choosing between Aqualad, James Heller from Prototype 2, or Cole Train from the Gears of War franchise. James Heller would be easiest, but his clothes are so civilian, that people might think I'm not in costume. Aqualad or Cole Train have more distinct outfits, but it will take time to put them together. I'd love to dress up as Cyborg from the New 52's Justice League or Emile from Halo: Reach (not sure if Emile's black, but he sounds black). However I think their outfits would be too hard for me to make.

Anyone else thinking about dressing up for a Halloween event?

She also took part in blowing up the cave. And that's not even mentioning the stuff she's probably going to have to do now that Kaldur might not be the same. She's probably no longer following orders of someone on the "good" side. Whether that's a memory wiped Kaldur or Deathstroke, she isn't going to be able to pull her punches like she could under Kaldur.

I think the only one of the four that might get cut some slack for this is Wally. He's basically an unwilling participate who has had an inactive role in all this (so far). So I could see him getting a bit of a pass from the others. Not saying they won't be upset with him, but they might be a little more understanding considering he isn't part of the Team and isn't directly involved in the actions taking place.

Of course Paula Crock is probably never going to forgive him for this.

What if Jaime DOES (at least somewhat) understand/forgive, but the Scarab doesn't? That could even start to lead into what others were saying about the future crisis happening in a different way.

All this talk of the blame that's going to go around when Kaldur and Artemis return makes me salivate(metaphorically) for the episode in which it inevitably happens. The "Current News…" list says episode 14 has the most dialogue; if anything's deserving of that distinction, it would be this.

Also, on the topic of inevitability, does that mean the season is destined to end with the League being defeated and the Reach/some other alien species conquering Earth? I find that very hard to believe.

Guys I want to ask a question, do you guys think there is a possibility that Aquaman knows about Keldor and the mission?

That one of the reason's he looked sad was, maybe he is worried for the safety of keldor, maybe Nightwing knows and didn't tell Aqualad.

And that Aquaman send tular to her so called death to motivate Keldor into doing the mission?. The sea is a very big place lol.

What do you guys think? It's a possible theory.

I think Keldor's face is gonna melt off, leaving a skull behind :p

Seriously... I'm inclined to think Barry is going to die too, since this is an adaptation of that particular era in comics.
