Why did Disney get rid of the heroine's siblings, well specifically her sisters from their adaptions of Beauty and the Beast?

Is it like I have long suspects, they are too similar to the stepsisters from Cinderella.

Well if so, reverse of what Disney did in the past with Snow White, their version was more like Sleeping Beauty than the source material.

I think that is part of the reason. However, I think the main had to do with the following taking some inspiration from the 1946 French movie based on the same fairy tale, in which, while it does include the sisters, the main antagonist is actually a suitor who wants to wed Belle.
