Lately, I've been rewatching some of the older cartoons I grew up with, such as the early seasons of Arthur, and rewatching Recess on Disney+, given that I used to watch it repeatedly on YouTube in the late 2000s. I even found myself going back to The Loud House and T.U.F.F. Puppy, as well as some more obscure PBS Kids cartoons. I'm not sure what it is, but with how difficult things can be, sometimes it is nice to watch something from my childhood and slip back to simpler times.

I heard a saying once that some people have comfort food for stressful events or difficult times. So, hey, maybe the same can apply to cartoons? So, friends, what are some of your favorite comfort cartoons?

The Loud House and Jimmy Two-Shoes. Other CN shows, depends on if I have the time.
The Loud House is strangely really comforting, like the series as a whole is enjoyable and makes me feel like a little kid again. I guess because I like to imagine myself as Lincoln, and kind of hoped to have a childhood like that, the same reason why I like Recess and Code Name Kids Next Door so much because it's how I always wanted my childhood to be. Of course, they are also really incredible shows, with amazing stories and characters.

- The Secret Files of the Spydogs
- Oggy and the Cockroaches
- Space Goofs
- Gadget and the Gadgetinis
- Shaun the Sheep
Oggy and the Cockroaches is the one show I really need to get into because I've heard nothing but good things about it since it developed a cult following in the US. I know it's on Netflix... at least, I believe so. And it's really popular, and is surprisingly an old show from the 1990s, and it aired on Fox Kids and Nickelodeon, so I probably did watch it, but might have forgotten. I know it always reminded me of Tom and Jerry, just because of the dynamics.

Shaun the Sheep rules! I'm a sucker for anything made by Aardman Animations because I was obsessed as a kid with Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit and Flushed Away (my favorite Dreamworks movie).

I have so many fond memories of Phineas and Ferb and The Amazing World of Gumball as a kid because around the time they aired in 2011, I was watching Cartoon Network and Disney Channel, and Nickelodeon like crazy because I had just gotten cable in 2010, so it was my first exposure to cartoons outside of Saturday mornings. I know Phineas and Ferb aired in 2007, but I remember the movie that aired during summer 2010: Summer Belongs To You, then Across the 2nd Dimension in 2011 because that Perry reveal is burned in my mind. And then that year, we got Gumball and Looney Tunes Show in 2011 on Cartoon Network, and that is how I spent my days in 2010-2011... until I grew out of cartoons in 2012 because I felt like I was too old since I started high school, which was dumb of me.

Really cool list!

That's an awesome list! I recently binged The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and all the Pooh movies on Disney+, and they are still as incredible as I remember when I was a kid. I like that you have Cartoon Cartoons that are sadly overshadowed, compared to their more well-known siblings like Dexter's Lab and The Powerpuff Girls, for example. Sheep in the Big City has some of the best literal humor, and reminds me of the 2018 Rocky and Bullwinkle show.

I recently got into The Loud House (in 2021) watching streams in Latin Spanish and fell in love with it. The European Portuguese dub isn't that good, the show helped me develop my characters further. it does help that, when the series advances, we get to see more of the sisters' relations rather than just Lincoln and Clyde. Not interested in The Casagrandes though, the season 4 opening arc was a bit boring to me.

Yeah, I'm a sucker for Aardman Animations myself! Wallace and Gromit and Shaun crack me up! Not to mention Chicken Run.

There's also
"The Critic"
Several episodes of "The Simpsons" that peak my interest
"Bump in the Night"
"George and Martha"

I have more, Underdog and the related Total Television shows (except maybe King Leonardo), got addicted to it when I started watching MeTV Toons. If I have the time, I will watch Fangbone!, which is now legally available on YouTube.

Regular Show
Arthur
The Simpsons
SpongeBob
Arthur had a huge impact on my childhood, since I didn't have cable for most of my life, so it was Kids WB on Saturdays and PBS Kids/Qubo for the rest of the week. And one of the shows I watched so much was Arthur. I somehow didn't catch the new episodes until much after their season run, so I was always behind multiple seasons. I'm still upset the show ended, but the way it ended is perfect, with the original voice actor returning and having him do a full circle with a story about his glasses as a nice little callback to the first episode in 1996 and the book it's based on. Nice list!

I watch Mickey Mouse (2013) on Disney + whenever I’m feeling down.
That's the one where the design of Mickey is based on the 1920s era? When it came out, I only watched it sparingly, but I heard really good things about it. How is it? I have too many cartoons on my plate haha to add a new show.

I just finished watching the Disney Underdog movie a few weeks ago, and it was one of the best movies of my childhood. The original cartoon has one of the catchiest theme songs of all time, no competition. I need to start watching MeTV Toons more. I'm mostly using websites online to watch cartoons or YouTube because Martha Speaks--another show I got back into, along with WordGirl--but I really miss turning on a television like I used to as a kid and just watching cartoons with commercials and a bowl of cereal. I just did a quick Google search of Fangbone!, and yeah, I'm not surprised it aired on Disney XD in 2016... man, they were firing on all cylinders during the mid to late 2010s for Disney XD and just pumped out a ton of content. How do you like the show so far? It reminds me of World of Quest.

It’s kind of irreverent but I still love it. The good news is the episodes are only three minutes long (for the most part) so it’s an easy watch.

Which WildBrain YouTube channel offers Fangbone! for free?

Precure is such a sweet, kind, empowering escapist show. It shows a sweet kind world and the girls do everything in their power to rise up to the challenge and keep it safe.

One Piece is a fun adventure, in a more flawed and dark world. The watcher can feel the experience of going around the world with Luffy and his friends.

The Looney Tunes are such an unsung gem. Such hilarious high quality animated work.

Lamput is also another piece of beauty, being a fun cartoony show in the vein of Tom and Jerry.

I'll actually answer the topic, since I didn't before.

Looney Tunes is a big one. Even though few of the shorts still get genuine guffaws since I've seen them so many times (though there are exceptions like Baby Bottleneck and The Unruly Hare, which still gets laughs even though I know what's coming), they're still some of my favorite cartoons and I often switch to them on MeTV Toons during commercial breaks of Svengoolie. (sure beats medication and private insurance commercials!)

Can you confirm whether or not the Swedish audio track of Cartoon Network Western Europe has an error in the episode "Nightmare on Toon Street" where it switches to the Dutch dub in the second half of the episode?

Because that exact error is indeed present on HBO Max.
