Respect his commitment to doing the story justice in an animation medium (even if people will probably call out how they went with CG because 2D "would be much too difficult within our time constraints") and for Laurie being his favorite character :anime:.
Pretty solid first visual for a Watchment movie :).

8/13: I'm guessing in 2D it would be looked something like... when they added lines to Superman's face in Justice League season 1? It probably didn't look right in 2D. There are a lot of comic art that translates to 3D better than 2D. I think it was the right call to go 3D to adapt Gibbons rather than use 2D and have to alter the art style and have it not look at all like his art.

8/15: Assorted interviews here, here, and here with Sackhoff, Vietti, and Welliver.

There will be a panel at the LightBox Expo on October 26th.

Inside Look at the Making of “Watchmen: Chapter 1”

Director Brandon Vietti and Warner Bros. Animation provide a behind-the-scenes look at "Watchmen: Chapter 1." The animated feature is a faithful adaptation of the groundbreaking graphic novel series by writer Alan Moore and illustrator Dave Gibbons, which redefined the superhero genre when it debuted in the mid-1980s. Watchmen Chapter I delves into the gritty and complex world of masked vigilantes in an alternate version of America during the Cold War era. The “Watchmen” saga remains a cornerstone of comic book literature, having garnered numerous awards and accolades over the decades. The adaptation captures the spirit and style of Moore and Gibbons’ original, groundbreaking vision with stunning animation that pays homage to the comic book’s iconic visual style.

And maybe an announcement or two in regards to Watchmen: Chapter II? That would be lovely, although I expect we might know more about its release window before then.

Recently overwhelmed by forums and posts fearmongering about another original movie flopping. For the sake of my mental health, I’ll be posting less frequently on here. I wish Hollywood stops nostalgia baiting.

I have been reading a Tex Avery Facebook group lately and let me tell ya...it's hilarious for how bizzare some of the posts are.
Bizarrely, multiple European dubs of A Minecraft Movie are completely unavailable on (HBO) Max for the time being. These include Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish, Dutch, European Portuguese, Romanian, Bulgarian, Serbian, Croatian and Slovene. Only subtitles are available in these languages right now.
