"Our goal is always to give preschoolers, kids and tweens the very best programming in television, and to combine fresh new creative ideas with enduring hits that kids love," said Tom Ascheim, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Nickelodeon Television. "SpongeBob is number-one with kids and Dora is tops with preschoolers, so we're going to give them more, as well as new episodes of their favorite live-action and animated shows. And we are very excited about the new shows that will be joining the lineup this year."
For the upcoming 2007-08 season, Nickelodeon Preschool will add to its lineup The Umizumiz, an interactive series set in a global urban city brought to life in a fusion of animation, photography, origami patterns and preschool punk music; and Bubble Guppies, an interactive, animated variety show for preschoolers set in a vibrant 3D, CGI-animated underwater classroom. Nickelodeon will also add Making Fiends to its schedule, an offbeat and outrageous animated tale about two unlikely friends, Vendetta and Charlotte.
The network has also picked up 13 additional episodes each of TEENick freshman hits The Naked Brothers Band, featuring new heartthrobs Nat and Alex Wolf, and Just Jordan starring teen standup Lil' JJ, along with 13 episodes of the TEENick favorite Zoey 101, starring Jamie Lynn Spears.
Joining a 2007-08 animation slate featuring previously announced series Mighty B, Tak and the Power of JuJu, Back to the Barnyard and the newly launched El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera, are 13 additional episodes of the number-one kid series SpongeBob SquarePants and 20 episodes of the animated hit The Fairly OddParents. On Nick Jr., preschoolers can look forward to an all-new fifth season of perennial favorite Dora the Explorer, which includes 14 new episodes and three hour-long television movies.
New series for the Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. 2008 season include:
Making Fiends
Developed from Nickelodeon's TurboNick broadband platform, where it appeared as a series of shorts, Making Fiends is an offbeat, flash animated series centering on two girls, Charlotte and Vendetta. Each episode explores the struggle between these two polar opposites. Vendetta makes fiends to instill fear over their dreary town of Clamburg and despises cheerful Charlotte for always foiling her most brilliant and fiendish plans. Meanwhile, Charlotte loves her new town, is oblivious to the danger that Vendetta poses to her and thinks that all of Vendetta's fiends are rather cute. Making Fiends was created by Amy Winfrey and is based on her popular Making Fiends online films. Winfrey won a student academy award in 2000 for her short The Bad Plant. Her other original work includes the films Big Bunny and Muffin Films. Winfrey was also an animator on South Park. Supervising producer Dave Wasson was the creator of the Cartoon Network series Time Squad, executive producer and director of the Disney series The Buzz on Maggie and creator of the Emmy Award-winning Oh Yeah! Cartoons short for Nickelodeon, "Max and his Special Problem."
The Umizumiz
Premiering in 2008 on Noggin, The Umizumiz is a new animated interactive series for preschoolers about a miniature urban repair squad that solves everyday preschool problems in Metro City with help from the viewers at home. The Umizumiz features an adventure math curriculum that includes foundational skills like counting, estimating, patterns and measuring which engages preschoolers by exploring math in real life contexts. Viewers will hop inside the Zipmobile with the Umizumiz and sing along to spirited, catchy, "preschool punk" take-away songs. The Umizumiz was created by Soo Kim and Michael Smith and is co-created and executive produced by Jennifer Twomey.
Bubble Guppies
Bubble Guppies is a new interactive, animated variety show for preschoolers set in a vibrant 3D, CGI-animated underwater classroom. Bubble Guppies has an emergent curriculum: ideas that emerge from preschoolers' own discoveries. Each episode will delve into a preschool topic from a variety of angles as the cast and viewers at home explore the swaying kelp forests, fantastical coral reefs, and undersea gardens of their aquarium-inspired surroundings. Bubble Guppies is created by Robert Scull, who also serves as executive producer on Nick Jr.'s The Backyardigans, and Jonny Belt, supervising art director and co-executive producer of The Backyardigans. Scull and Belt also developed the series along with Janice Burgess, creator of The Backyardigans.
Nickelodeon, in its 28th year, is the number-one entertainment brand for kids. It has built a diverse, global business by putting kids first in everything it does. A few things I feel I must say about this news.

1. First off, more then 700 episodes of new shows in the span of one year? Bull. It'd be lucky if combined there wasm ore then 100 new episodes of all the shows in a year's time frame, and that includes new eps and premieres.

2. Speaking of premieres I have no opinions on the new Nick Jr show (since I have given up on that block) but Making Friends sounds sort of interesting. Unique of a Nicktoon to focus soley on a two girl duo anyway so it should yield at least decent results. One can hope anyway.

3. Sorry to burst your bubble Catlove but Danny's been cancelled. Yeah I know so was FOP but I doubt Danny's going to be resurrected unless FOP does tremendoulsy fantastically well on it's return. I would worry about something else though: like the fact they didn't Announce Avatar returning. I mean seriously that is still getting a fourth season right? Why didn't Nick announce that here? It's probably the second most known Nicktoon still currently running (we all know which is first) and I really don't think they would have it end just after season three, espically with the life action movies in work and all.

Okay......First of all, I already KNEW that Danny has been cancelled........so please dont treat me like an idiot....second of all, I was saying that MAYBE Since, there are 700 episodes of episodes of RETURNING shows AS WELL AS NEW SERIES.......well then Nick might show the remaining episodes of Danny.....Just becauase they did not mention Danny does NOT mean they would not show the ramaining episodes of Danny as a part of this...please don't talk to me as if I don't know what is going on....I'm not stupid.....and by the way, do YOU work for Nickelodeon? If not, then how in HEAVEN'S name would you know for SURE that Nick would NOT show the remaining episodes during this time? You are so negative...............it can't hurt to HOPE, can it?

This is just for the 2007/08 season. They've already confirmed that Avatar is getting a third season and 2007/08 is likely to be the timeframe it's going to be broadcast in. Any news on a fourth season or anything like that is going to be later in the year. Though I'm doubtful it's getting a fourth season. Not even the creators seem to desire that. They might try something different with the same team in the years to come. At least I hope they do.

But back on-topic...I know I shouldn't dismiss these shows out of hand but those descriptions aren't giving me much of an incentive to do otherwise. Making Fiends does sound interesting, but being on TurboNick US I have no means of previewing it. Curse my geography.

...wait a second, it says there are going to be twenty new episodes of Fairly Odd Parents. I thought that show was coming to an end? I might have skimped the news, perhaps.

Yep...Fairly Oddparents got picked up for another season.....Butch had announced it on his forum....And yes, they probably DID "skimp"on that news, as you say, just like they did NOT announce that they were going to show the rest of Danny's final season....However, I am pretty sure that Nick WILL show the rest of Danny's final season..but that's another argument......

Fairly Oddparents is the only thing left that I really watch anymore. I am very glad they have decided to bring it back. Let's hope season seven is a better season.

It is a pity they still have not decided to bring back Jimmy Neutron, but plan to possibly replace it with this Barnyard series. I read many reviews before I made a decision as to whether or not I'd see the movie, and while there were many positive reviews, there were probably more bad ones than good. The whole story was a copy-cat of The Lion King, and had many crude, awful jokes in it. If the series lasts longer than a year, I'll be surprised.

Jimmy Neutron was better and much more creative, IMO. Shame on them for not bringing it back.

I've also seen part of Making Fiends, and I'm sorry to say, it looks no better than El Tigre. I found a website several months ago about the show..I wish I could remember the link, but unfortunately I do not right offhand.

With the exceptions of Spongebob Squarepants and The Fairly Oddparents, as well as Neutron and Danny Phantom, Nick has truly lost sight of their audience. As long as their new shows make a quick buck, Nick could care less about how we feel. And while I agree that every few years we should have a few fresh shows, they should focus on quality--not low-budget, low-quality garbage. We pay for this channel as well as many others if we have cable or satellite. I think we as viewers deserve a bit better.

Right in front of you.
I admit, Jimmy Neutron was one of the few Nick shows that I found entertaining to watch. The characters, setting, and plot, for each episode were creative. I wouldn't mind watching more of it if they decided to bring back the series

Interesting. Zoey 101 will be the only show of TeeNick's Original 4 (Ned's Declassified, Drake and Josh, Zoey 101, Unfabulous) to go past three seasons (well, Unfabulous hasn't even aired it's third season yet, so I have no clue what Nick is doing with that series) but still, that's interesting. Usually 3 seasons seem to be the standard.

"Back to Barnyard"? Ugh. No wonder I don't watch Nick anymore...

Yeah, in Barnyard there were male cows with udders...and they drank each other's milk...I am NOT making that up...BLEAH!!! No WAY I'm watching the show, unless they make those cows lactose-intolerant and subject everyone of them to masectomies...udderectomies...whatever...
