Finished it last night. Since I have mixed opinions on the Survivor trilogy, I wasn't thrilled that they took the overall serious tone and continued the story from those games. Also wasn't crazy about how emotional they made Lara, a far departure from her cocky/witty characterization in the first five games. Aside from a few isolated examples, it was mostly void of comic relief. Some of the action was decent, but the stiff animation didn't do it any favors. Jonah continues to be a meh character for me, and I'm not crazy that the franchise is becoming more of a team effort than Lara doing it solo.

You might think I hated the show, but I didn't. It was watchable. It just wasn't as strong as it could've been.

It was a slog to get through. Each 20 minute episode felt like an hour. I wasn't a fan of PTSD emo Lara either or the team stuff either but I played only the first 3 games back in the day or the Saturday morning message of 'find your inner balance' but something about the story didn't really grab me.

She had an absentee dad and idolized her surrogate dad Race Banno--I mean Conrad Roth who turned out to not be that good a dad for his own biological daughter. And tortures herself over their deaths for most of the season. Then the villain Devereaux. They did a great job of establishing what a prick he was but his revenge plan on the secret society with magic stones at the cost of the entire planet was laughably dumb. If that wasn't enough, he turns into a monster but the stones easily can get pried out with the pick or shot out. And oh yeah, water and electricity works on him. The blows Lara took from monster Devereaux and later the Rex was comical, too. Unless she's from Krypton, she should be dead or in the hospital crippled with multiple concussions.

One pairing I loved was Lara and Camillia. Wish there was more of them. Once they got into the globe trotting, myth and traps, very entertaining stuff.

Yeah, the animation. If Castlevania is Powerhouse's best animation. Lara Croft is in the middle. Kong was at the bottom.

lol, the bit of Sam being missing was such bait. I wonder if this will get a season 2 or did it already?

Oh yeah, that part when Lara's thrown against that wall, she'd have broken her back and been paralyzed at the worst, or at the very least passed out from the pain. I get we have to suspend our disbelief in action stories, but sometimes things get to be a bridge too far. (my gold standard is still in Son of Batman when Damian is still able to fight despite being stabbed in BOTH ARMS- that is literally impossible)

Dude, if you want to see Suspend Our Disbelief at its most insane level, watch the original GI-Joe cartoon. Half or most of the Joes and Cobra soldiers should all kinda dead.

The problem with Tomb Raider was that it was too middle-of-the-line and at times kind of boring. It wasn't a terrible show or a good one at that it was just in the middle. It didn't have the impact that something like Arcane or Exosquad had when an important character died. When those shows did that I felt invested in the story and characters, but Tomb Raider did it, I felt like "Ok what next? And when it's going to end?"
