Synopsis: Paramount Pictures and Marvel Entertainment present the epic adventure, Thor, which spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is the mighty Thor (Chris Hemsworth), a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth by his father Odin (Anthony Hopkins) and is forced to live among humans. A beautiful, young scientist, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), has a profound effect on Thor, as she ultimately becomes his first love. It's while here on Earth that Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.

I got the regular blu-ray, and I must say it's another disappointing Paramount disc release. Two primer discs in a recycle case. The film itself is awesome, I just wish we got a better case.

 

[Spider-Man]

It seems like a good release but I noticed that Iron Man 2 had a lot more bonus features than Thor. Still I had a chance to watch the movie and most of the extras and I enjoyed them. I really loved that preview trailer for the next season of Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes! I can't wait to add Captain America next month!

There's essentially nothing about the comics at all. JMS is briefly featured a couple of times, but it's basically just him standing around and shooting his cameo. You get a couple sentences out of him, but that's it.

I am really getting sick of companies releasing bare bones DVDs and shoving most or all of the special features exclusively onto Blu-Ray. This is nothing more than a ploy to slowly run major motion picture DVDs out of existence, forcing consumers to pay a much higher price for only a better picture quality and the same amount of features we used to get on normal releases. It's also the biggest reason I chose to rent films like Thor instead of buying my own copy, spending my money on more reasonably priced offers such as season sets of animated shows.

It's not just better picture quality, it's also better audio quality, and there's more room on a Blu-Ray disc to throw on extras without worrying about compression.

But I can see why their tactics would annoy people who still buy DVDs.
