I guess I'm not surprised at WB going ahead with a Suicide Squad sequel. Despite the...lukewarm critical reception, the international box office was still fairly good :).

Hopefully they can work out the kinks in the sequel, though with Ayer attached to the Gotham City Sirens movie, I wonder if they'll wait for him to finish or find a new director o_O?

It's also being reported today that there is a Suicide Squad sequel is in development.
Hmm... I don't know how I feel about a Suicide Squad sequel. I know it's already been confirmed as a project, but Suicide Squad was on my list of DCEU movies I was most interested in alongside the movies above. Sadly, it let me down. It didn't feel like the Suicide Squad. I mean the team did, but not their mission. Unless the sequel is a lot better and truer to the comics, count me out unfortunately.

A Squad sequel? OK, why not?

Deadshot? Eh. I'll be annoyed if we get a Deadshot film before Flash or Shazam, frankly.

Yeah, well, let's pretend the real title of Suicide Squard was Deadshot & Harley Quinn. The writing was on the wall. But I agree, what a Deadshot movie could be about. An assassination gone wrong slash frame job slash political thriller?

Eh. I'm pretty sure he made it clear he wasn't interested in the genre.

Yeah, didn't he literally bad-mouth BvS a few months back? Seems weird that DC would ask him to direct a film. Sounds fishy...

These shortlists are created by the very same executives who go into the editing bay and mess up the films. Ridley Scott already said he doesn't like CBM, but they would love him to do one.

I saw this reported short list of SS2 director choices and felt better: Ruben Fleischer, Daniel Espinosa, and Jonathan Levine (WB has either met with or is planning to meet with them).
Hmm... I'm not familiar with these directors or their work, but if they can deliver a great product that feels like the Suicide Squad this time, I'm in.

After Batman: Assault on Arkham (which I love), I'm still waiting for a live-action Suicide Squad movie that feels like the Squad to me. I enjoyed Arrow's take on the team before they were essentially removed because of the movie.

Of those three, I only know of Fleischer because he did "Zombieland" - and I think he can pull off a really good Squad movie with his sensibility. If they intend to release it in 2021, it could work but if they're aiming to fast track - could be difficult because I think he's already attached to a Jekyll movie (and the in limbo Zombieland sequel).

They say Gibson is looking at this to work with Smith. However, I feel like this is a trap. WB feels they have a hireling they can push around in Gibson, and I doubt that. Whatever he were to turn in, they'll mess it up if he doesn't fight, and he doesn't have that much power.

Fleischer is not a bad choice, but we'll see. I think the details need to emerge for us to figure this out. I wouldn't mind a new team or members of.

(Thankfully), Gibson continues to deflect SS2.
I don't know. I just met some guys about story points. It's not a done deal or anything, but it's just fun to shoot the bull, you know, when it comes to stories. I love doing it.

Squad 2 seems like a good guess, and the potential Justice League Dark film as well (especially since the recent DTV was R).

I just hope that they aren't taking the wrong lesson from Deadpool/Logan. Those two worked because both characters work very well with the rating, but you can't just slap an R rating to any hero (I never want to see an R rated Flash or Green Lantern film).

And in Logan's case, it wasn't just there for shock value. I think an R rated Squad film could work excellently, as long as there aren't a bunch of "shocking" scenes just added to say "See, we're hardcore!"
