I've seen the first three episodes, and have enjoyed them.

The first two episodes may be slow for some (episode 1 is catching up with the four leads, and episode two has them slowly get involved with the conspiracy), but I personally enjoy those episodes. Plenty of well-done character moments.

But episode three (especially the final ten or so minutes) is epic. I was being a fanboy throughout the climax of that episode, and the way the characters came together. Luke Cage and Danny, and Jessica and Matt have some really fun banter.

Meanwhile, also really enjoying Sigourney Weaver. Her performance here is very zen. She completely radiates authority in every scene she's in.

Hated the staff with The Hand, they're now the worst villains in all the MCU everything else was pretty great though.

I finished it. It's no Avengers, but it was an overall satisfying experience. The main four played really well against each other, and even the various supporting characters got some surprisingly interesting interaction.

With good cinematography and a strong script bolstering good actors, I'd say my only real gripe was that The Hand's plan was surprisingly vague.

Looks like Misty Knight will be getting her bionic arm pretty soon.

The ending is very interesting, since it seems like the status quo for Daredevil season 3 and Iron Fist season 2 will be very different.

Ah, I almost forgot - I'm also very glad they didn't force some drama between Jessica/Misty/Claire over Luke. I know a lot of fans assumed that would happen, but I'm relieved that never happened.

Just curious - Was there an episode solely dedicated to the origin of the Hand?

No something like that would only make them actually good villains and that would mean a shred of creativity or consistency was done when writing them. That and these shows barely have any kind of budget now.

Thanks for the quick answer. But man, what a pity. Figured there would be a flashback episode.

Yeah, at most, Stick gives us some exposition, but in many ways, The Hand are still shockingly vague at times.

I went through it the first weekend, and I let it digest for a while. There were parts that dragged even during the 8 episode run but I still had fun. I love the world of the Defenders, and I liked seeing it all come together. Matt, Jess and Luke were great. Danny was better, and I hope it's pitch perfect next time out. I'm glad that Defenders at least gave me hope where he is concerned. The action was great. It wasn't quite as awe-inspiring to me as Daredevil has been, but the fight choreographers and stunt people did it up. Moments like seeing Luke and Danny taking out villains together prepped me up. I'm a fan of Netflix Elektra but I don't care much for a lot of the Hand stuff. The one good thing they really provide is an army of capable combatants. I look forward to seeing the world expand further, to seeing more charismatic villains used in the future, and to hopefully seeing new costumes for Danny and Matt someday.

I've watched it with my brother and his roomie over the course of 4 2-episode viewings. That's how we do things. It was a mess. I don't think the writers actually knew what they wanted to do. The chemistry is slow to build, and in a way, eight episodes wasn't really enough. It was almost as if they had to rush to an ending.

Ok, we know Misty will soon have her bionic arm. The next question is will we eventually see the Daughters of the Dragon come together as a team?

If "ratings" continue to fall, Netflix and Marvel need to think about doing both Daughters and Heroes for Hire. This way they can let Cage and IF go.

I keep hearing they totally bungled the Hand (well from the start on DD). Hopefully there is another hand of 'five fingers' out there to better lead the Hand. But if they lay low for a long time, I wouldn't object to that either.

The DDS2 show runners being in charge of Defenders was probably the wrong choice. If they come back for DD S3, I won't be as hyped for the show. At least one positive note of Inhumans was it prevented Buck from returning for IF season 2.

Hopefully Punisher will boost the overall ratings with the Netflix shows. Should be interesting if it does since it entails no superpowers, no magic, no ninja, and no supernatural stuff unlike the previous series.

The Defenders "The H Word"

All right premiere.

I thought the Daredevil and Iron Fist stuff was boring, but Jessica Jones was slightly diverting, if derivative of her own show. The one bright spot is Luke Cage, although I am annoyed his sex scenes continue to be so rough and raunchy. But everything else involving Luke is good.

How did they manage to snag Sigourney Weaver for this? She's the one who bosses Madame Gao around.

I missed Luke Cage a lot and this episode makes me really want to see season 2. ***.

Not all of Family Guy has aged well (and he knows this - hell, he's friends with the PTC president now) but I genuinely think Seth MacFarlane is a really good guy.

Imagine a broadcast TV network giving someone who worked at the Golden Age of Cartoon Network the opportunity to worked on a show, and doing 8 interviews, only to completely ghosted him for weeks for absolutely no reason.

I'll start off by saying X-Men 97 has been a blast to watch. As someone who grew up exposed to the films and cameos on other shows, it was definitely a different treat seeing how both iterations of the franchise handle the characters and their world.
