There's something up at Trekweb.com about the next Star Trek movie. Check it out here. Apparantly, Star Trek XI is going to involve the Romulan Wars, but won't be related to "Enterprise". I'm not completely sure how that's going to work since I thought the war with the Romulans took place during the "Enterprise" time period. IMO, it would make more sense to deal with the war in the series.

Sigh. Berman and Braga are STILL involved? What is wrong with Paramount?!?!?

At least they're finally talking about wrapping up the Temporal Cold War on Enterprise. Futureguy had BETTER be someone we know from the earlier series or I'll be pissed. I nominate Wesley Crusher!:D

I kind of wish they'd try to make something of the Temporal Cold War plot. So far, its just been a confusing mess that's hardly been dealt with. By wrapping it up early next season, I don't think they have enough time to make it any more understandable or worthwhile. Seems like a huge waste. It's probably for the best, but it just seems like "Enterprise" is going nowhere. There's the Temperal story, the Xindi arc, this new twist we've got as of the third season finale. Meanwhile, we've all been expecting/anticipating eventually seeing the war with the Romulans, but apparantly its not going to be seen on the series. And has there been anything leading up to the founding of the Federation? I have no idea what this series is about. Berman seems to be doing whatever the heck he wants without giving any thought to the time frame or the premise (has there been one?).

Like you said, I have no idea what Paramount's thinking. It just seems to get worse and worse for Star Trek. There have been plenty of blatant indications that change is needed. For unexplained reasons, its not happening.

It's do or die time for the 'Star Trek' franchise. If Star Trek XI does not absolutely rock, to the point that fans and non-fans alike love it, then that'll be the last Star Trek movie, ever.

Since 'Enterprise' is more of an abberation than a member of the TOS/TNG/DS9/Voyager family of shows, I have a feeling that the vast majority of fans will give another 'Star Trek' TV show one last chance. But if that show doesn't prove itself part of the TOS/TNG/DS9/Voyager family of shows, with good writing, great special effects, and the rest of the package of a good sci-fi TV show, that that'll be the last Star Trek TV show, ever.

Nothing lasts forever, but how much longer will this franchise last? The decision lies with Paramount...

I don't know why everyone's so upset about all this. XI is an odd number, so they're REQUIRED to make a bad movie. (Somebody had to say it.)

Seriously, it's looking more and more like the "rebirth" of Trek has finally ended. The 70's and early 80's were a long stretch of almost no ST material save for the occasional motion picture. Since 1987, not five consecutive months have gone by that there wasn't new Star Trek material on the television or in the theaters. Maybe it's time for them to throw in the towell. There have been good times, there have been bad times, and there have been GREAT times these past 16 years, but every ship runs out of the proverbial steam eventually. Cancel Enterprise in 2005, release whatever movie you want to for XI, and then sit on the concept for five, ten, fifteen years, or however long it takes for people to come up with an inspired new take on the concept of Gene Roddenberry's dream.

I don't believe Star Trek has told every story that it can. I do believe the ones writing the stories have developed tunnel vision. Step back, take a breath, and let the public absorb the shows that have already aired. Eventually the craze will begin again, and by then somebody will have thought of a unique perspective on the universe so the adventures may continue, and hopefully, prosper for a long time to come.

Fugate, I like how you think, except I know B&B can make a bad even-numbered trek movie but I sincerely doubt they can make a good odd-numbered trek movie, and they do need to knock it off for a while AND get rid of B&B ASAP

They thought Bond was dead in the 80's. It just needed a decade off.

True, but Paramount doesn't seem willing to give Star Trek that much needed break.

I'm surprised Paramount is giving ST ANY break, considering Star Trek: Nemesis was a financial blunder ($60 mil to make, $33 mil to promote, grossed $67 mil WORLDWIDE). Star Trek: Insurrection needed overseas grosses to make money.

In developemnt, green light?

Projects are often in "development" The real question to me is has it been what they say, "green lighted" or given the official money to go completely ahead with the film..This to me is unclear from reading the article..Yes, if this one is made, and financially flops, or if "Enterprise" doesn't pull some sort of magic, and double or triple its ratings next year...good by "Star Trek" Not bad for a 60s series that was sent to the 9pm-10pm time slot in its third season, that ended in June 69.(Landing on the moon that summer, and "Star Wars really helped it."..a 35 year run for a tv shows, and spin offs, movies etc, pretty good. I guess only surpassed by "Bond, James Bond.. No matter what happens some of the eps, and one or two of the movies were really were great sci fi, and , and that is saying something...Stuart

Yeah, but it hurts to see so much bad Trek when there's potential for great storytelling.

Today I enjoyed trying some nostalgic online CN games through the Wayback Machine. Some games didn't work, such as select KND games (DCR files instead of SWF ones) or the Puffy Ami-Yumi games (Dish It Out had Flash Player compatibility issue while World Tour just couldn't start after the controls tutorial).
Happy 60th birthday to Greg Weisman. Gargoyles, The Spectacular Spider-Man and Young Justice are all shows that I have enjoyed watching, overall.
so...remember when toonami got controversies for showing something on the fanart segment
I just saw a Frozen 10-Year Anniversary ad on YouTube.

I can't help but find it surreal knowing that this year is Google's 25th Year Anniversary.
