It's being reported some Alien characters from the original Filmation Star Trek animated series will appear in Live Action:

The Star Trek universe is about to get a lot bigger, and that looks to include cross overs from animation into live-action.

There is really no point in making TAS non-canon. There's nothing that contradicts much of anything else (besides early Holodecks). I think the creators pushed it out of canon out of animation snobbery and nothing more.

Minor but here are some comments from Shazad Latif about the "Section 31" spin-off series.

I think Strange New Worlds should be branded as a Desilu production in the closing logos, using an HD remake of the 1966 Desilu logo, and a reorchestrated version of its theme, in place of the regular CBS Studios logo. The Desilu logo shown on Strange New Worlds would carry a ViacomCBS byline.

This is because the original Star Trek began as a Desilu production, and doing this would show that if it weren't for Lucille Ball, Star Trek would never have made it to air.

Alex Kurtzman extended his TV deal with ViacomCBS (which includes the Star Trek shows) through 2026.

It seems a "Starfleet Academy" series aimed at a younger audience is in the works.

08/25:
"Star Trek Day" on September 8 will feature Prodigy, Discovery, Strange New Worlds, Lower Decks, Picard as well as a Roddenberry legacy panel.

Star Trek Saturn Awards wins.

The Star Trek franchise, which earned seven total nominations, won in three categories. Star Trek: Discovery took the award for Best Science Fiction TV Series. Star Trek: Discovery's Doug Jones won the award for Best Supporting Actor on Television. Patrick Stewart won the award for Best Actor on Television for his return to Jean-Luc Picard in the first season of Star Trek: Picard.

Starfleet Academy series has come up again. Will focus on the college cadets studying to become leaders in the United Federation of Planets upon graduation. Alex Kurtzman's Secret Hideout and CBS Studios are developing the project with Absentia co-creator Gaia Violo.
