I'm still surprised they haven't revived the Sinister Six concept yet, unless Feige and Pascal settled down on leaving that for the Marvel Studios movies ..

Well the teaser for Spider-Man Homecoming seems to indicate that will be a thing that will happen in upcoming movies. Hopefully for more the third and by that point the series will know how to balance it's villains better then we've seen in previous Sony Spider-Man movies. I kind of hope Sony realized trying to do a movie just with the Sinister Six is stupid and scrapped that idea and these other projects with these anti heroes are smaller scale projects allowed much more to be they're own things as honestly if done right these projects could work. Even though yeah seems like they're dipping in the obscure end for some of these titles. Even in the time of Twilight doing a movie just featuring Morbius the living vampire feels like a super obscure idea honestly.

All comic fans know they do villain spin-off books. However, it's all about the story.

I mean....if Spike Lee ends up doing it, that could be a big deal, but the jaded part of me feels that they're only now going through with it because of Black Panther.

And on one hand...awesome, I won't say no to more representation at all, especially since there aren't many other black-led CBMs coming out soon.

But on the other, they can't rush this. It has to be given genuine effort (and again, trying to get Spike Lee shows that they seemingly are).

I've never read anything related to Nightwatch, though I think I had a trading card once. Spike as a director is pretty hit or miss for me. I can't remember what I've seen since Inside Man, which I thought was great, and was also one of his work for hire movies much like this would be.

At this point I'm so unclear with what MARVEL is doing with Spider-Man mythology. On the one hand they say we don't want any villains who appeared in the previous films. Then they show us they building a Sinister Six. Fair enough. Why are the letting go of seemingly potential villains for SONY to make solo films? Don't worry I know full well the answer and logicistics. I'm more frustrated by these news drops.

I can only imagine that Marvel Studios and Sony meets to discuss which characters they plan on using on their respective sides, so Marvel gets the characters they want to use for their Spider-Man films while Sony gets characters Marvel Studios doesn't have any immediate plans for.

Well if you want to be nice about it. Honestly feels more desperate and pandering really and like with DC Sony does not have the track record that makes me think a lot of they're films they claim to be making will actually get done. MAYBE if Venom does well and is you know actually good we'll say different but that's a pretty big IF at this point in time.

I think a lot of this is definitely riding on Venom doing well.

Of course, in a world where Solo bombed despite having much more going for it, I don't put a lot of stock in any Spider-Man spinoffs not starring Spider-Man .
