My roommate is pretty livid and heard that Samurai Jack was cancelled. I admit I never really watched it myself, but everything I saw of it showed that it was top notch and it won awards if I remember right.

So... what happened to it? What happened to the final battle of Aku and did Jack ever return home?

The series had very low ratings and was cancelled. Unfortunatly there is no final battle between Jack and Aku, Genndy did have an idea of a movie that would'v ended the series, but because of the BO failure of the PPG movie, CN was wary of thetrical movies.

It never happened. Since the show ended at 52 episodes, we never got a conclusion. The last episode didn't have to do anything with the final battle. I think Gennedy Tartakofsky wanted to make a a DTV with a conclusion but, CN won't allow it.

I don't think Jack had very low ratings. I think it didn't do well with it's target audience.

It's another sad CN story...I personally LOVED the show, and just like Dexter and the PPGs, Jack has been canned. And it's sad that we'll never know how it ends, but we got a good idea from the episode with Jack and the time portal guardian. Jack would most likely succeed anyway...

Dexter and PPG's got cancelled?!?!? O_O!!!

You know... I would NOT mind a straight to DVD movie one bit. Even as one who was an admirer of the show, if not a faithful watcher, I'd buy the final battle and DVD movie in a nano second.

I'm surprised... Jack was pretty fantastic. I didn't know it got bad ratings.

Well with PPG, I think it was more with the crew working on other shows. Funny thing is, when CN aired the final four episodes on Toonami, it got good 9-14 ratings.

Yeah, Dexter's Lab got canned a pretty long time ago. :p It had a nice run, though. Powerpuff Girls...finished, however, three unaired episodes (which aired outside of the United States) will air later next month. After that, the PPGs are likely done. They also had a really nice run. However, Craig McCracken, Chris Savino, John McIntyre, Randy Myers (they all worked on PPG at some point), etc. are all busy with Foster's (which I think is one of my favorite CN originals).

I never really gave Samurai Jack a chance, though I did later on. It's definitely a fine piece of work by Genndy Tartakovsky.

Samurai Jack was the reason for me to watch Cartoon Network. With it gone the network just seems so...lacking.

I do hope we get the rest of the series on DVD, at least.

It wasn't cancelled. CN ordered 52 episodes (?) and they got 52 episodes. The series' ratings probably just didn't justify more episodes then 52...and Genndy wanted to end the series in a movie that'll likely never happen.

Thems the breaks unfortunetly. I loved SJ as well...and miss it's Monday-Thursday 10:30pm slot right before AS it used to have. =/

Seems to me they could at least do an "Egotrip" type thing with Jack. It couldn't cost that much, and if they advertised it as a finale it would probably pull in at least decent ratings.

If The Powerpuff Girls was finished, then Dexter was, considering they both got the same number of episodes.

What would be wrong with a straight to DVD Movie? That can't cost all that much and even as a non-fan, I know I'd buy it.

Oh you guys are so wrong, Dexter Lab is finish. There are no new episodes as far as I know. On the other hand, the Powerpuff Girls are still on with new episodes coming next month. As for Samurai Jack is on hiatus, supposedly some new episodes will someday show up; hopefully soon. So have faith and keep on writing about it. ;)

Jordan, for PPG, these episodes that will air next month (I believe) were already released in some countries, so it's new for the US. After that, I highly doubt that there will be any additional episodes (not anytime soon, anyway).

Samurai Jack, I hope that any unreleased episodes will be released in the future. However, I'm assuming that the series will never have any new episodes on television.

Because it's like asking Emril Lagasse to cater a weenie roast.

For most shows it would perfectly fine to go direct to video, but I really want to see Jack with the full on theatrical experience.

I'm not willing to send CN the message that they should not make a big deal about this or play it safe here.
As a fan, why should I be so practical and make their argument for them by saying I'll be happy with whatever they throw my way

The last interview I read where Genndy talked about it, he still wants to do a movie.

As long as he still has the talent together and keeps producing cartoons like Clone Wars I'll keep hope alive that Samurai Jack will someday appear at a theater near you.

Maybe someday, Cartoon Network will get the message to either make new episodes, or bring the series back...and that message will be inadveretently delivered by a certain bald-headed "Airbender" who works for the Men in Orange.
