YES. I've been saying this and thinking this for a while. They need to KILL JLU Superman. Kill him. And then, in death, he will ceast to be so lame. In other words: His death will make him interesting again, imo. Then, they can ressurect him in a much cooler form. I dont know about redesigning him drastically, atleast not forever, but it could be a way to do interesting things with an otherwise wasted character. Superman was pretty cool in the Cadmus finale, but sadly, it was short lived, and when the whole Cadmus plot devolved, so did Superman.
anyway, yes. he needs to die already. I mean, i think theyve been teasing us with Doomsday so far. I think its coming. peace.
naw. That whole storyline was a cheap ploy to sell books. Superman is fine where he is. They handled his characterization so well in the last season of JLU. There's no reason the animated series should be cheapened with deaths and inevitable resurrections like comics are. The only good thing to come from the death of superman was Superboy.
They've already done that in the DCAU already minus all the other stuff. I wouldn't mind seeing Eradicator or Cyborg Superman make an appearance in the DCU. If they do, I see them as being lesser known Superman clones developed by Professor Hamilton and Project Cadmus.
why would killing Superman make him better? the less focus on the big 7 the better they have had more then enough time theres so many more of the new heroes that could have neat stories about
They have already done the Death of Superman they won't do another version.
As for Reign of Supermen that won't be happening because the Supermen came in to fill the void that Superman left behind. The one known as Steel was introduced before Superman died that one time.
That's mfy favorite SUperman story, probably because it allows you to see Superman in a different light, 4 different lights to be exact. Of course, like many here have already said, it's been halfway done. Doomsday, Hereafter and Steel have already made an appearance. I also can't help but notice the design similarities of the animated Metallo and the Cyborg. Braniac carried a few elements of the Eradicator in him as well (carrying the legacy of Krypton and all). That being said, I would love to see it, maybe a season long arc or something, I don't see it happening though.
The onyl real new char who'd come from a Reign storyline would be the Cyborg Superman, since Steel is already around, Superboy can be explained as a Cadmus expeirment (which is his comic origin anyways) and Eradicator's character was fused with Comics Brainiac to become the animated version of Brainiac already.
Why bother? That story's already been told, we know how it ends. Some of us never believed from the outset that DC comics would actually do away with their most recognizable and heavily merchandised character and knew from Page One that the story would end with the original Superman alive and well and back on the job (First Rule of Comic Book Deaths: Never believe a character is dead until you see the corpse...and sometimes not even then.). Plus, the story would have to be changed to fit Cartoon Network's Standard and Practices, and fans would scream about the changes, just as they did with "For The Man Who Has Everything".
But I'm still holding on to my fantasy of seeing "Identity Crisis" in Adult Swim.
They shouldn't do a Death of Superman, it's been done. But the reign of the Supermen would be great. Yes, Cyborg and Eradicator have been somewhat fused with Metallo and Brainiac. However, the origins of both could be changed to fit the storyline of JLU. It would also be a great way to bring back Mongul (that is if he got the blasted plant-thing off of him).
Superman has gotten the lion's share of development since the second season of Justice League. He could use some down town. Or rather, Lois and Clark could use some uptime.
I'll start off by saying X-Men 97 has been a blast to watch. As someone who grew up exposed to the films and cameos on other shows, it was definitely a different treat seeing how both iterations of the franchise handle the characters and their world.
Professor X's speech in today's episode was powerful ... nuff said.
With regards to Matt Braly, I prefer the weekly release. Binging is terrible for an entire season to be released in one run and back in 2015/2016, when it started becoming a thing, there were people concerned over that.
Sometimes, I really question on why these streamers seems to be so selective on which show should get the weekly release treatment or not. Giving every show the binge format is unsustainable. Sure, there are some exceptions, but not every show needs it.
