English filmmaker Alan Parker* died 31 July at the age of 76.

Parker is known for directing movies such as Bugsy Malone, Midnight Express, Fame, Shoot the Moon, Pink Floyd – The Wall, Birdy, Mississippi Burning, Come See the Paradise, The Commitments, Evita, Angela's Ashes and The Life of David Gale.

*Not to be confused with Blue Mink guitarist Alan Parker, also born in 1944 in England.
