Coolio, 'Gangsta's Paradise' Rapper, Dead at 59

Coolio, whose Nineties music was a staple on radio, a favorite on MTV, and included the hit “Gangsta’s Paradise,” has died at age 59.

RIP, man and in addition to "Gangsta's Paradise", "1, 2, 3, 4", "Fantastic Voyage" and the Kenan & Kel theme song, he also gave us the underrated hit that was "C U When U Get There".

"Gangsta's Paradise" was the turning point for the rap genre. The goofy vibes from Vanilla Ice, MC Hammer, and their contemporaries from the early 90s evaporated shortly after this song was released. Rap became a lot more hardcore and focused towards the hardships faced by gangs and the Black community.
