I was a little bored with that, but I didn't find it particularly offensive or TOO stupid. Let's call that a win. ***.

It's only the eighth episode and the hiatus is starting already, but at least they give us a lot to look forward to. There's no doubt that we'll be spoiled by international airings during the summer, however.

The man who voiced Wolfgang is Guy Langford. He's the staff writer for Dino Fury, and also wrote "Stego Search".

Power Rangers Dino Fury "Unexpected Guest"

That was an interesting episode.

It starts off in the middle of a Zord battle so its unusual for that.

I also thought seeing a sort of Power Rangers Creation Myth flashback for the entire franchise was pretty cool too. Not sure it fits in with everything else, but it would be cool if it did.

Learning the bad guy is trying to be reunited with his lost love is cool too.

I always hated Mick on Ninja Steel, but he wasn't so bad here simply because they didn't have him try to spout insipid cliched "wisdom" no more insightful than the Great Trashheap from Fraggle Rock. It's weird though that the fact that he's technically a Ranger never came up.

I actually liked it. Will wonders never cease? ****.

I've been gone a while. I did enjoy episodes 7 and 8. Seeing Mick again was a treat and getting some lore expansion for the various power sets of the PR universe was interesting. It was nice to see Mick make use of his shapeshifting abilities again and I'm definitely interested in seeing Void Knight's whole deal. See you all when the hiatus ends.

Power Rangers: Dino Fury "Cut Off"

I'm not on-board the moral that Ollie was right. He was being insufferable with his inventions earlier in the episode.

Zayto made an excellent observation about the jacket with fans built into it. If it's actually hot, you can just take it off. Seriously that is about as nonsensical invention that ever existed.

This is NOT the show that should EVER be throwing stones about jokes not being funny. Five minutes after they are accusing the chicken joke of that they're saying "Out of cluck" and other chicken puns. Do you know the irony? The monster doesn't even LOOK like a chicken. But about half of the monsters on this show don't look like the things they are supposed to. Either the writers are super lazy, or there is something lost in translation when adapting this show from Super Sentei. It's probably the first thing, if only because that's the one I have tangible proof of with my very own eyes.

Not great. **1/2.

Power Rangers: Dino Fury "Phoning Home"

Not bad but not good.

The J-Borg stuff has quickly turned into the worst part of the show. It's not quite as bad as Victor and Monty or Ben and Betty, but it's bad for the same reason: The scenes are utterly degrading for her actress. I don't think it's good humor to teach kids to point and laugh at the misfortunes and humiliations of others. Putting fish bones in your mouth and spitting up a hairball is not something you should ever ask a grown actress to do (outside of perhaps fetish porn). Needless to say Power Rangers has been on the air for 30 years and still sucks for that exactly as much as it did back in the day with Bulk and Skull.

I liked the scene of Zolan making dogfood for Zayto for the reason that it shows she likes him, so that when she has a problem with the alien chick, she isn't being irrational and is still on his side. Perhaps the viewer did not even need that much, because they were aware of Slider's true nature the entire time, but I was personally glad to have it. Zolan also turned out to be a surprisingly decent fighter which was also cool.

I like to be able to take at least one horrible shot at the expense of the show per review, and this next thing is my attempt: But Zayto's password being "Zayto is cool," is absolutely wretched. In his complete defense, it's also something nobody who knows him would ever think to utter in everyday conversation. (Rimshot!)

Mucus is such a lovable and well-meaning character that if they don't bother redeeming her by the end of the season I'll actually be a bit pissed.

Some things I liked, some things I didn't. ***.

Power Rangers: Dino Fury "McScary Manor"

Jane going on the air and claiming the newest craze will be people sticking their hands in a mixture of glitter and goo shows that this show doesn't try at all. I would even accept it if they didn't try very hard. But they don't try at ALL.

That being said, the backstory between Amelia and Pop-Pop sounds a bit intriguing. And I hate the cast switches every year, but one of the selling points is that they could further explore this backstory if they chose to because they don't have to drag things out for seasons on end. I detest the fact that the show changes casts in every incarnation. However the fact that the backstory of Amelia's missing parents could be explored without wrecking the show is its only real selling point.

It was all right, but I'm a bit tired of all right at this point. **1/2.

Yep, for the first time, Netflix has released episodes of Power Rangers before Nickelodeon. Likely a precursor to the show shifting over exclusively to Netflix next year.

Episode 9 - "Cut Off"
Air Date: June 15th, 2021 (Netflix)

The Rangers tease Ollie for bringing all of his gadgets on a camping trip. But his tech might be their only hope when the sinister Sporix suddenly attacks.

Episode 10 - "Phoning Home"
Air Date: June 15th, 2021 (Netflix)

A knight from Zayto's home planet suddenly appears at Dinohenge with a message that might be too good to be true...and Solon has her suspicions.

Episode 11 - "McScary Mansion"
Air Date: June 15th, 2021 (Netflix)

Amelia hunts for ghosts at a creepy mansion. But there's no supernatural sighting - only a fierce face-off with the pyramid-shaped Tombtress.

We're back.

All three episodes were pretty enjoyable. Seeing the Rangers hit with an emotion ray was pretty funny. Other assorted thoughts:

-I like that the writers found a sort of middle ground while presenting a moral in "Cut Off." Self-sufficiency is good, but having specialized tools for dangerous situations just in case is a fair message to send to the audience.
-Man, all the villains really hate Mucus, don't they? I feel bad them.
-I was hoping Jane and J-Borg tossing a coin into the fountain would get an immediate payoff when they made a beeline to a payphone, but instead of them not having the money to use the booth, it seems the phone just didn't work at all. Unless the gag was that it was an actual functioning payphone and Jane was just dumb to realize she needed to pay.
-Speaking of Jane, I do like that she takes a proactive role in creating content for her company. Not many executives willing to get their hands dirty in front of a camera.
-We need more orange Zords in this franchise.

With today's episode, "McScary Mansion", Nickelodeon is caught up with Netflix. Next week will be a US premiere episode.

However, on October 15th, Netflix will be dropping the entire second half of the season:

In light of this news, I'm going to pose a question here:

Once the Netflix batch drops, should I keep bumping this discussion thread weekly, as I had been doing, while the episodes continue to air on Nickelodeon? Or should I do a one-and-done post, like I did back in June, covering all those episodes?

The remainder of the episodes have already aired in the UK and in France. Canada and Australia are a bit ahead of the US as well.

And so begins the second half of the season.

Episode 12 - "Super Hotshot"
Air Date: October 9th, 2021

Izzy is convinced a new coach is going to take her athletics to the next level. Her training aspirations are put to the test when she discovers the coach’s true motivations.

I would like to express my condolences to the family, friends, and coworkers of Hasbro CEO and Dino Fury co-executive producer Brian Goldner, who passed away this week. May he rest in peace.

I'm fine with either method, though having episode bumps weekly would (presumably) be better for thread engagement.

Anyways, "Super Hotshots" was alright. I know things have to be simplified for a half-hour runtime, but I'm 99% certain using a customer's watch as payment for a uniform is flagrantly illegal. Other assorted thoughts:

-No Void Knight this week, but Slyther is entertaining enough with his showman's voice and narration of his own actions. He's allowed to do that.
-Coach Bella has the right hyper-enthusiastic voice that I could actually see her being a real coach with her own line of videos of dubious quality.
-Two characters miscount things in this episode.
-I'm curious about Fern and Izzy's shared history with her.
-I got a legitimate chuckle out of Javi having to specify what kind of cutesy animal Izzy should imitate to get her way.
-No Zords this episode. Feels like the first non-premiere/"introduction" episode in a while where that's been the case.
-Ill-advised as continuing her training under Bella may have been, it was nice of the other Rangers to lend Izzy the money to pay for a new uniform. The dilemma of today's episode may have been a bit ham-handed, but as someone who has been duped or nearly duped into bad business dealings before I think it's very important to teach kids that they can and should drop out of a questionable situation at any time.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the rest of this season pans out, especially because some people keep putting spoiler thumbnails from the international airings on their videos.

The entire first season of Dino Fury is now up on Netflix, and I'm up late watching them right now. I'm also taking an opportunity to use up a vacation day per suggestion of my supervisor, like I did back in June when episodes 9 through 11 were put up on Netflix before they aired on Nickelodeon.

I'm currently watching the livestream for DC Kids Fandome on YouTube. Batwheels comes out next year, and apparently, Batman: Caped Crusader and My Adventures With Superman come out in 2023. There's also a scene from DC Superhero Girls 2019 of Diana asking Barbara to not be friends with Harleen, and we see the Joker. Hopefully, there's an article that talks more about this.
