It definitely is Wildcat... it has to be him...but Catwoman could appear. That'd be pretty sweet.

Oh well...and I thought they already had a Catwoman/BC story left over from B:TAS to work with. Guess it wouldn't be possible with the whole "The Batman characters" issue....or would it?

all batman villains and supporting characters are still "off-limits" to JLU for the time being....the "cat" is indeed wildcat....as for that old never-produced catwoman vs. black canary BTAS story, it never got past the "vaguely-talking-about-the-possibility" stage, nothing was ever even set down on paper...

There you have it straight from the horses (or rather b.t.'s) mouth. They still cant use any of the bat characters goodguys or bad.
Well Atleast we got Alfred in a speaking role (JL-Starcrossed) before the whole offlimits thing.

The DCAU on TV schedule (on Toon Zone's main page) that was talked about earlier in this thread says that the JLU episode next week is called "Harsh Mistress." That can't be right, can it?
I don't suppose anyone can give any elucidation on this? Or have they, and I missed it?

Man, that puts a damper in my dampened spirit. But with JLU Season 3 greenlit, does that mean that things could change? I sure hope so, because while watching some TNBA episodes recently, I realized how much I missed the Bat-family. It seems almost too bad that the awesome Scarecrow redesign probably won't be used ever again.

Nope, no one clarified, but for some reason I doubt that's the name of a JLU episode. Seems very out of place.

Thanks Mr. Timm for you input. i jus wanna say i love your work and appreciate how much you put into maintaing this continuity which has spanned most of my life. But oogling aside it sucks that tha Supporting bat characters are off limits becuase i woulda loved to see ScareCrow or Riddler challenge the League.

:) Thanks Bruce. I love clarification. Really I do. I sprinkle it on my jello and everything :)

Just hold on to that Catwoman design for me, okay? A guy can dream right?

OK, I want "The Batman" cancelled... NOW.

I feel that we (the Bruce Timm DCAU, and specfically the JLU) audience are getting ripped off by limiting Bruce Timm & Co.'s creativity like that. At the very least, Alfred, Nightwing, Joker & Harley Quinn, and Ra's Al Guhl should be allowed to appear in JLU... I'm not saying they should dominate a series where Batman is a member of a team, but one really cool appearance each in JLU is essential to give the show a 'balance' IMO...

I'm seriously missing Alfred, Leslie, Barb, Dick, Tim, Selina, Big Bad Harv, Eddie, Ra's, Talia, Jim, Renee and Harvey.

But that's not what this is about. At least we've got JLU. Someday, my friends. Someday.

i don't see the bat-embargo lifting anytime soon....

but to tell you the truth, as much as i, too, love those characters, i don't really miss 'em all that much....it's not like we don't have TONS of other interesting characters to play with...if i were doing an actual "batman" show, and not allowed to use those characters, yeah, that'd be pretty galling, but batman's only one ingredient in the justice league brew...the bat-clan aren't really essential in any way to the current show....so, let's all just take a deep breath and move on, shall we?

there's a $#!+load of mind-blowing superhero goodness coming soon on JLU...just keep saying, "the glass is half-full".....

and as for "harsh mistress", i only wish it WERE a JLU episode title!

(...but it's not.)

That's unfortuante. While it's true that Batman's allies & villians in Gotham are not an essential part of JLU in any way, I'd like to see Joker appear at least once in JLU, if nothing else... :( Just one episode out of (hopefully) 52! And seeing an Alfred-absent Batcave just seems odd... Surely Warner Bros. can cut you at least that much slack! One Joker episode and a few brief cameo appearances by Alfred can't be too much to ask of Warner Bros., can it? :(

I just don't understand how the business of the entertainment industry works sometimes... Warner Bros. owns the entire DC Universe, Bruce Timm & Co. make DC Universe cartoons for Warner Bros., yet for some reason they aren't allowed access to certain DC Universe characters? Warner Bros. is denying employees access to their own resources? (It's particularly odd since Bruce Timm & Co. have been a productive team for Warner Bros. for over a decade now...)

BTW, Mr. Timm, you're doing a great job! Keep up the good work! :)

well, some of the ep titles are a bit too spoilery to reveal just yet....two that aren't:

"the balance" and "clash"

that'll have to hold you for now...

(oh, and we've never really liked "miracles happen" as a title, so that's going to be changed before it airs...)

Whats wrong with "miracles happen". Its better than some other episode titles, "this little piggy" and "kids stuff". As long as the Flash is in it I don't care what it is called. All I care it can be name "The Return of the Flash". Right now I can promise you the best thing of the episode, for me and I bet a lot of other people anyway, will be Flash's return. Oh and can one of those spoilery episode title be called "Doomsday" :D . Also to go as far as saying "the cat and the canary" is the best episode ever, I can't wait to see what makes you say that. Well I can't wait to see those episodes and "the once and future thing" even though it might be awhile, good job on the episode that I already seen. You did a great job on "Wake the Dead", best episode this season. Nice job voiceing Grundy, even though all you did is scream, still good job. Even though what you did with AMAZO leaving was just to give Hawkgirl the spotlight, it still was a brilliant episode. I just hope next time AMAZO is in an episode you don't do something like this again.

Dude! Wach the spoilers!!!! Some of us here in the states still haven't seen that episode!!!

IF the bat-ban won't be lifted anytime soon is there any chance that we might get to see Plastic Man any time soon? I'd really like to see him on this show.

but isnt there anything we can do?? a campaign? bombard the wb with emails? something???

can you tell us why they're off limits? is it 'the batman' or 'batman begins' or both? also, did you have to pull some strings or lobby to get to keep using BATMAN?

anyway, the biggest downside to all this is no joker. i'd LOVE to get another joker appearence in jl, but i guess its not happening. the joker is just, well, he's the best, and the timm dcau version is by far the best and most definitive version (and the rotj/jl design is just awesome), so its a real shame he wont be appearing.

oh, and how is this 'embargo' effecting the rumored and some-what confirmed new timm version batman dtv?

could we possibly get just batman and the joker for jlu? i know, wishfull thinking, but maybe if we all try and start some kind of petition? think it could help?

oh, and btw squall, as much as i am enjoying 'the batman', yes, if it is indeed the reason we wont be seeing any other batman characters in jlu, then yes, i too want it canceled...now! i know its unfair and kind of harsh to say, especially since i dont think its a bad show, and i actually like it (love those backgrounds), but i'd take a single joker appearence in jlu over a whole season of 'the batman' any day of the week. peace.

I guess we should all feel lucky that Batman himself is even on JLU. Has there ever been new episodes of two different versions of the same character being aired at the same time? The guy stars in two totally differnt shows.

Well, at least we've got Batman (and Huntress, which has got me pumped).

I think people had started to move on and then, all of a sudden, JLU happened and Supergirl and Steel have shown up. In addition to that, almost every single major Superman supporting character and villain has returned on JL and JLU, so that's got the Bat-fans a little riled up (because Batfans hate Superman, you know). But thanks for keeping us up to date on this stuff, as we probably would have been stuck speculating for a long time as to whether the "bat-embargo" had been lifted yet.

there's a $#!+load of mind-blowing superhero goodness coming soon on JLU...just keep saying, "the glass is half-full".....
Man, I cannot wait for all the awesome heroes next season. I mean, we've got friggin' Captain Marvel which is just too cool for my little nerdy brain to bear. JLU is simply the best superhero team show I've ever seen. You and your crew have been doing a fantastic job. As a comic book fan, JLU really is a dream come true.

Now how's about another B'wana Beast appearance...

and as for "harsh mistress", i only wish it WERE a JLU episode title!

(...but it's not.)
Darn. I was hoping for something involving Granny Goodness...

EDIT:
Someone over at the JLAnimated boards seems to think that there's an episode called "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress" and describes the plot as involving a future version of Braniac invading the moon and taking it and then turning the moon into a machine. In the end, all that's left once the League stops him is a small operating center which is the size of a city so they decide to use it.

It sounds kind of...odd to me. It could happen, but its sort of out of the blue. I'm not pressuring any of our VIP members to confirm or deny anything, but a little cryptic remark might be helpful.
