Beginning September 14, kids will get more of their favorite Nick shows on CBS Saturday mornings, including the popular HEY ARNOLD!, PELSWICK, AS TOLD BY GINGER and THE WILD THORNBERRYS, all of which make their broadcast television debut.

These new Nick offerings will join returning NICK JR. series -- the award-winning, landmark program BLUE'S CLUES and the #1 preschool show on commercial television, DORA THE EXPLORER.

THE SATURDAY EARLY SHOW will return in its current time period (9:00-11:00 AM, ET/PT).

In the 2001-2002 season from 7:00 AM to 12:00 Noon, ET/PT, CBS's NICK JR.-supplied block made CBS the number-one broadcast network on Saturday mornings with kids 2-5 and second only to Nickelodeon among this audience overall. The block averaged a 3.4/15 rating and share (an average of 535,000 kid viewers) among its target kids 2-5 audience, a full +70% ahead of the number-two-ranked broadcast network, Kids' WB (2.0/8 rating and share, an average of 321,000 kid viewers). NICK averaged a 4.0/19 national rating and share (an average of 643,000 kid viewers). The NICK JR. on CBS block drew a sizeable kids 2-11 audience, with a 1.9/9 rating and share (an average of 763,000 kid viewers) in its 7:00 AM to 12:00 Noon, ET/PT time period.

The NICK JR. on CBS returning series for the 2002-03 season include:

- DORA THE EXPLORER, E/I, TV-Y. Nick Jr.'s successful original play-along, animated adventure series, features a 7-year-old Latino heroine who lives inside a computer. Dora is proudly bi-lingual and uses her knowledge of the Spanish language to communicate with her friends, overcome obstacles and reach her goals. In each episode, Dora teaches the viewers a Spanish word or phrase and then asks them to use it to forge ahead to solve a problem. Dora and her friend Boots ultimately triumph and end her stories with a "We did it!" anthem. DORA THE EXPLORER is a Nick Jr. production.

- BLUE'S CLUES, E/I, TV-Y. Nick Jr.'s acclaimed signature show, challenges and empowers young children while making them laugh. In each episode, host Joe (Donovan Patton) invites young viewers into his computer-animated storybook world to help him and Blue, his energetic female puppy, solve the day's puzzles. BLUE'S CLUES continues to draw acclaim for its unique interactivity that has changed the way kids watch television. The series continues to raise the bar in preschool television by exploring advanced subject matter such as sign language, geography, physics, emotions and anatomy. BLUE'S CLUES is a Nick Jr. production.

The NICK JR. on CBS new series for the 2002-03 season include:

- HEY ARNOLD!, E/I, TV-Y. Arnold is a city kid whose problems (school bullies, crushes, best friends and secret handshakes) are a lot like the problems of any other 4th grader. The difference? Arnold has his own unique way of solving them, using his city savvy and instinctive sense of right and wrong. HEY ARNOLD! is a Nickelodeon production.

- THE WILD THORNBERRYS, E/I, TV-Y7. Twelve-year-old Eliza Thornberry (voiced by Lacey Chabert) has a magical secret: she can talk to animals! Traveling the world with her family, headed by dad Nigel (voiced by Tim Curry), Eliza learns the mysteries of the animal kingdom while making nature documentaries. Sharing her adventures are Donnie (voiced by musician Flea of the alternative rock band, Red Hot Chili Peppers), Eliza's adopted "wild child" brother, and her best friend, Darwin, a charming chimpanzee. They never know what to expect as their travels take them to exotic locales. THE WILD THORNBERRYS is a Klasky Csupo production.

- AS TOLD BY GINGER, E/I, TV-Y7. This humorous and heartfelt comedy follows 12-year-old Ginger Foutley as she crosses the shaky bridge between childhood and adolescence, tiptoeing bravely into an exciting, scary new world: junior high. There, for the first time, Ginger is afforded entre into the cool crowd, and she struggles to remain true to herself and her longtime friends while exploring new possibilities. Creator Emily Kapnek delves into friendship, cliques, first romance and junior high anxiety. AS TOLD BY GINGER is a Klasky Csupo production.

- PELSWICK, E/I, TV-Y7. Created by nationally syndicated cartoonist and author John Callahan, who is himself a quadriplegic, PELSWICK follows the daily life of a fearlessly funny 13-year-old boy, who happens to use a wheelchair. Despite being a quadriplegic (paralyzed below his armpits), Pelswick demands to be treated like everyone else, a contemporary attitude toward disability which is echoed by the other characters and the story lines. The series also presents a similarly contemporary look at the everyday dilemmas of being a modern kid. Pelswick can't help but poke fun at all of the odd predicaments kids face on a daily basis -- which makes him really fun to be around. His best friends, Ace and Goon, consider him their leader and are very enthusiastic about any misadventure Pelswick conjures up. As a result, the trio often find themselves trying to get out of the trouble they've created. PELSWICK is a Nickelodeon and Nelvana production.
