6/29: Feige confirmed he almost cast Jason Statham in a movie. He could not make it because of his schedule then the next day, Statham called Feige's cell and told him "sorry it didn't work out, maybe next time." Stark contrast from those Bullseye rumors.

6/30: Gunn was interested in a Hulk & Red Hulk movie.

The only kind of Hulk/Red Hulk movie I could see happening is basically Thor Ragnarok if the two leads were constantly trying to smash and kill each other .

I guess one benefit of Banner being in space now is that Ross can't sic what's left of The Avengers after him with his new jurisdiction over the team...

We are looking at a five-movie storyline — Civil War, Homecoming, Avengers: Infinity War, untitled Avengers, Homecoming 2 — or whatever we end up calling it — as an amazing five-story journey for Peter Parker. In the way that the events of Civil War directly inform the opening of Homecoming and his state of mind as he goes back to high school, so too will the events of the next two Avengers movies as he continues with high school. This original 22-movie arc ends with the untitled Avengers in May of 2019 and then two months later it will be Peter and Spider-Man that usher us into the aftermath and how things proceed from there."

This does seem to shed light on the possibilities of the Venom and solo villain Spider-Man films.

Though it is kind of interesting that Spider-Man, despite the rights issue, is being setup as such a focal point in the MCU...

Well didn't we already know that they were now going to be totally separate and not involve anyone in the MCU? This just seems to just be clairfying that point again. Probably because... I hate to say this because it sounds mean but I have a feeling Amy Paschal or the Sony team had this deal in mind and was trying to sound vague or lie a bit about it connecting to the MCU in order to attract more fans or get more attention this film using the MCU connection that would generally interest more people then these movies would get without them. And maybe were hoping a deal could be reached to connect them and still have their crew work on the movie when yeah obviously that isn't going to happen. Really feels like Tom and Kevin are just trying to further do damage control on this rumor just to clarify "what Sony's doing has nothing to do with us and takes place in their world." And again part of me does feel Sony was trying to say otherwise just for more attention which does look pretty pathetic on their parts but again don't know the specifics and does feel wrong to unfairly gossip on someone if that doesn't wind up turning out to be true but again that's just what it feels that was like.

Well you have to remember now that the MCU has Spider-Man and obviously not all but a good amounts of elements from his world and want to use him. You also have to remember he's likely being set up as such an important member not only due to how popular the character is but likely is going to be one of the big connecting factors going forward since it's more then likely a lot of the founding Avengers like Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk etc wont' really be in the MCU after Avengers 4. Whether they die in that movie or just are unable to be heroes anymore or the actors just no longer agree to sign on for any movies, pretty clear the line up is going to be shaken up. And more focus is going to be placed on the new heroes like Doctor Strange, Black Panther and Captain Marvel. As well as someone like Spider Man who has that instant connection with people some of the other heroes may not have and thus will be quite important to the movie universe going forward. Thus him getting such a big push now.

I can't imagine iconic (and huge moneymaking) characters are going to be just written off. If anything they'll just start using the versions in the comics: Jane Foster as Thor, Riri Willaims as Iron Man, Amadeus Cho as the Hulk, and Sam Wilson taking over the role of Captain America.

I guess this sheds a little more light on the new Avengers team in the new season of the cartoon. Hopefully this means Kamala will appear in a few years.

Which basically means Feige has given up on it in the vein of Daredevil, Ghost Rider, and Inhumans. Oh well.

Well I wouldn't say in the vein of those properties. As Daredevil, Ghost Rider and Inhumans are still in the MCU. Not the main movie verse but the TV series/Netflix verse which is still part of the same universe even if one won't directly acknowledge the others. Plus Inhumans as problematic as that property became it was never a "the rights belong to another studio" issue on why they haven't gotten made. No I'm pretty sure what the implication here is that if given the opportunity, Feige and the rest of the MCU would put the Fantastic Four in the movies... but they aren't going to make a deal with FOX about them as the FF aren't Spider-Man level popular where such a thing would still be profitable, for Marvel Studios. And again despite their various failures, FOX still doesn't seem willing to let go of the Fantastic Four and still at least says they're going to make movies with them. And technically they have until... about 2022 I believe to really start making a movie with them before they would officially loose the rights to the FF (as again Fan4stic was I believe had to be rushed into production in 2014 and was only about a couple of weeks away from Marvel reacquiring those rights) and obviously Marvel isn't going to make plans or think about characters they really can't use. So yeah until FOX officially reliquinshes the rights... well sadly IF FOX officially reliquinshes the rights, this again is pretty much the situation we're in:

Well, I mean you no offense, but you're not disagreeing with me. Bottom line is Feige is stating they have no plans for them which means even if they did get the rights next year, there probably won't be a film. FOX is clearly foolish to hold on to an ip they simply tarnished. Even Sony let go of Ghost Rider, once the 2nd film just barely made its budget back.

My personal opinion is FOX is moving in the direction to merge the FF universe with X-Men utilizing Franklin Richards. Scary thought; that "could" potentially work.

I was disagreeing with your point on him giving up on them in the vein of other properties you listed. As Daredevil, Inhumans and Ghost Rider are in the MCU in some form while Fantastic Four isn't. Though honestly if FF was let go of by FOX I think eventually Marvel would want to make movies with them since yeah when Marvel gets the rights back to characters they still use them in some form but it's not always movies. Again with Daredevil it was Netflix and Ghost Rider it was to Agents of SHIELD. I think FF would get a film but it's more "yeah we know we can't/likely won't be able to so aren't talking about it" not "we have the rights to these characters are just doing something else with them" like you were saying.

Well, I think there's alot of chatter about FF in the MCU. The idea of FF in the MCU is perfect, even the idea of Stark Tower being converted to the Baxter building (which does not make sense). FOX is really holding portions of the cosmic universe hostage to some degree. That probably is the other reason Feige doesn't want to suggest anything at all. He certainly does not sound against the possibility of FF in MCU proper. So, I understand your defense. To waste ancillary characters like Dr. Doom, Silver Surfer, and Galactus on a television budget would be just as retarded as FOX holding onto them with no real direction.

Their insistence on trying again with FF is as mind boggling as the Universal-Hulk debacle, I think we can all agree on. I thought House of Mouse might have more muscle to get them back because I'm pretty sure Disney prefers to have everything, not necessarily to use but to own, I've all but concluded the only way is they vastly overpay to take the full rights back.

If they are shifting to the cosmic side of things Phase 4 and beyond, there's y'know a cooouple FF characters they could really use that an Ego-ian deal probably wouldn't be enough.

Keep in mind Ike Perlmutter is a real cheapskate I imagine he doesn't want to waste money on buying the rights back when he can just wait.

Yeah but Ike Perlmutter isn't in charge at all with the movies as he only heads the TV side of the MCU now. Thus why since Inhumans was a pet project of his he pushed so hard to get them a show when their movie was pulled. So he doesn't have any control on what the movies do or any rights related to that including film rights of other characters. I imagine that was a reason why the rights for other characters were kept in the hands of other studios for years but that's something he no longer has any control of. I'm guessing some other executives at Marvel could feel that way especially since maybe other studios think Marvel would could them a deal like they did with Sony even though that's with their most popular character and likely Marvel wouldn't do that with anyone else they don't fully own at this point.

7/28: Jeremy Latcham has left Marvel Studios to develop his own movies at 20th Century Fox.

Take with salt but John Ridley is being linked to development of a long rumored Ms. Marvel TV show. I say salt because the source is Reddit

The pilot of the show is being written by John Ridley, who worked on 12 Years A Slave and American Crime. While it was originally written with the intent for the character to debut on ABC, ABC Studios is also considering Freeform and Hulu as potential platforms for the show. The original pitch began development in the Spring of 2015, but following Marvel's success on platforms outside of ABC, as well as changes to the schedule of Marvel Studios, in particularly the development and delays of the Captain Marvel film, have altered both the original script and the expected release timeline significantly. The script has undergone several rewrites since its initial commission over two years ago, but development is expected to be officially announced soon, as John Ridley will be able to showrun the project himself following the cancellation of American Crime, which he had previously been working on during the show's long development.

Or the current Guardians might be getting solo movies. But yeah, I imagine the Avengers movies, Captain Marvel, and/or Vol. 3 will seed/introduce these cosmic characters he speaks of.
