Come on people. Talk about the episode or move it somewhere else.

This forum is for talk about DCU shows. This is not the place to discuss Bond, Buffy, plushies, actresses with beautiful skin, Star Trek, Angel or big ass irrelevant lists. This specific topic is about Wake The Dead.

Please stay on topic!

Here's a start...what else do you think Dr. Fate could be hiding from the JLU?
Could someone move my big ass irrelevant list to another thread?

I think b.t. and Dwayne McDuffie should be mods. Then EVERYTHING would be on-topic.;)

Although I am very grateful to styl92 for moving this to it's own thread I am somewhat saddened by the fact that I will not be able to edit it.

Then copy it, paste it onto a word document, edit it there, then post the new and improved version in the thread. I can't do everything for your list. Because if I did, Toon Zone forums would have to start paying me a moderator's salary!

I can do that if you remove the quotes (hint hint).

Uuuuhhhh. Wake the Dead, right? My favorite part was when Hawkgirl brutally and callously bashed Grundy's brains in for no reason while Superman egged her on.

His James Bond, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Star Trek and Angel DVD collections?
Especially his multiple copies of The Man With the Golden Gun and A View to a Kill. Meanwhile, Inza is secretly hoarding several volumes of Guys Gone Wild...
And Amazo has developed an unhealthy obessesion with that winking robot chick from Metropolis.

And don't forget GL in the background holding the digital camera, all so they could show the rest of the JLU at the annual Watchtower buffet luncheon. Those animals....

Anyway, I think we've run into a wall here. I think this episode is just great, and the more I think about it, the more I like it. I like that the answers aren't easy, the villain isn't the cut and dry bad guy, and that morals and ethics come into play. I think that made it one of the best episodes so far, in my mind.

Well, I finally caught this legally tonight, I missed it the first time around...

Very good episode. The animation was very classy, best yet from ol' Dr. Movie. Every shot was really well chosen. Some of the angles seemed a little flashy, a little overdramatic in spots, but overall the episode grabbed my attention and never let go. The action was fantastic, every blow exchanged just exploded off screen and really came off well.

I'm at peace with Shayera's mace now, all thanks to some well said exposition. This wonder mace started to bother me a bit back in A Terror Beyond, but thanks to what was said (by Fate I think it was), enth metal and why it was created, that explanation works for me. Everything ties together really well here, very well structured story. I really felt for Grundy, even when he was slobbering (which was very well animated by the way). Shayera putting him to sleep was very appropriate, I must admit I felt bad for the poor guy when she comes upon him resting against the tunnel wall. I'm not too crazy with what Shayera said, it seemed a little off, a little telegraphed to the audience about what he intentions were. That's small, it just urked me a little. The crowd scene felt a little weird too, it worked but I dunno, it felt a little forced.

All in all, it was a very good episode. Way to go gang, and way to Grundy grunt, b.t.

Like a machine :D

Ahhh, on topic bliss.

So, if Hawkgirl ever appeared again, should she get a new costume? White tank top and pants doesn't seem very superheroish to me.

Maybe something similar to her awesome Better World digs?

Her costume from "A Better World" was very cool but its a little too close to her Thanagarian outfit. I'd think that armor would be the last thing she'd be wearing, even if its probably the most practical.

I actually kind of like what she was wearing in "Wake the Dead." It was so plain that it kind of works in contrast with all the extravagant (or revealing in the case of Vixen) costumes some of the League members wear.

As long as she doesn't put the mask back on. I think she's a character that works so much better with a full range of facial expressions. Personally I think it would be cool if she adopted a whole new look. It would be in keeping with the theme that she's left behind both the Thanagarian soldier and the Hawkgirl identities and is now out to forge a new identity for herself, becoming a stronger and more heroic persona.

i was SO tempted to keep her in her "wake the dead" outfit, i thought she looked awesome kicking zombie ass in her civvies....but ultimately decided she needed something a little more practical, so she WILL get a new outfit....no mask, though; she's far too pretty to keep covered up....

Excellent! New Hawkgirl costume. The old one was by far the worst design of all the Leaguers. It looked almost Golden Age with the short little boots and the massive mask. I wouldn't object to something along the lines of Justice Lord Hawkgirl's costume.

Now, who do I have to sleep with to get Supergirl's costume changed? :)

I remember seeing a drawing you did of Hawkgirl on an online gallery many moons ago, and it was absolutely spot on. It was essentially the regular JL Hawkgirl, but she had longer boots with the golden detailing up the front, and her mask seemed smaller. There was also some nipple-action going on, but I guess that wasn't appropriate for the show :) Any reason why you didn't use that design on the show? The biggest difference was the boots, but they really do make a difference.

Too bad, 'cause there is so much badass potential with street clothes. I mean, Diana too in Hawk and Dove. Maybe Shayera just needs a jacket with a monogrammed H.G. on the sleeve and a nice pair of boots (with neon laces?). Take it under consideration.

p.s. I think some kind of clever mace strap would be in order, but no velcro--very 1980's. And no buttons (Bad if her hands get cold).

Yeah, if costumes reflect the personalities of their wearers at all (and they should), then Hawkgirl's gotta get new digs. And I like that she doesn't get a mask, not just 'cause she's got a pretty face (though that doesn't hurt) but 'cause she's done with the secrets and the hiding of her true self and all that.

Anyway, about the episode--really good stuff. JLU is really getting into a good character development balance between the big fan-favorites, the familiar and the new. Actually, JLU had done a pretty good job at that from the beginning, it was just harder to appreciate all the subtlety of it from the start. And it seems there's already been a big ole' argument about whether there was or wasn't too much mercy being given to either Grundy or Shayera, but hey whichever side you're on, you have to admit that at least both sides had some representation.

The vote...wonderful revelation. I especially like the fact that more insight was given without giving away the whole thing. If it can be assumed that Flash and WW voted for and against HG, respectively, then that leaves Batman and J'onn, neither of whom I consider to be an obvious case (strong arguments can and have been made both ways...).

Oh, and I'm glad that Batman isn't the smartest at everything. I'm sure he's a fabulous chess player, but I doubt he allows himself the time, and standardized war strategy is more up HG's and AQ's alley. If Bruce could invent little gadgets for his pawns or move his pieces off the board then he'd kick some butt.:) Oh, hey, maybe the chess thing made him bitter and affected his vote...:p
